Argentina Baby Applejack question
« on: April 11, 2016, 10:32:32 AM »
Good Morning :)  I have a local friend who is offering me two argie baby applejacks for sale, however, I'm not sure how to tell if they are rehaired, legit, etc.  One is a much darker orange/red color with dark symbols and blue hair, but the hair is so soft and shiny, makes me think maybe re-haired but when I look inside the head it looks like a factory weave to me?  The tail is held in by a zip tie?  The other argie baby applejack is a much lighter peachy orange with a completely different color blue hair, almost a purplish blue.  Her hair looks and feels like real argie my little pony hair, still nice, but even seems like it has some factory curl.  Again the head looks like it's factory weave, but the tail is held in by string?  Both of their symbols match exactly in size and shape, just different shades so I'm confident they are both real baby applejack variations, just not sure how to tell if they've been rehaired?  Unfortunately I don't have any pictures

The Argies have a metal washer, the string and cable tie suggest to me they have either been rehaired or had rusty washers removed. She has straight hair, not curly

Here is a picture in the nirvana gallery :)

Without pictures I can't help any more :(

Ya, the one looks just like that only longer hair I think, and softer/nicer

The other, has a more peachy body, like the argie baby butterscotch kinda but the hair is a lighter blue too and looks like it has a factory curl to it.  Not a styled curl if that makes sense?  I'll see if she can send me some pics

Okay, added the pics she sent me, she said she herself isn't sure if they are rehaired or not either

They are both rehaired :) looking at the length and the "ends". The baby with the light blue curly hair looked like one of the "repaired hair" ponies that were popping up on eBay a lot a number of years ago. That colour blue was used a lot.

I'm not sure why the bodies are different colours though!

Thanks pkw, what do you think would be a fair offer on these?  Even though they are rehaired, I love them, think they are adorable, but, she was thinking $50 each and I'm not sure on a rehair

The lighter baby does indeed look to have the body colour of Baby Butterscotch!

I'd have said $50 if they were not rehaired, I'd think may be $25-35 each.

The lighter body baby is a bit of a mystery so I'm not sure on a price.

I second this!  I have an Argie Pinwheel I bought back then that was rehaired with this exact same hair.  I hope to have her rehaired to her original color sometime :)  I have a Baby AJ (packed away at the moment) with original hair, it is not as long as the ones in the picture.

That lighter bodied Baby AJ sure is cool!  I wonder if she's a variation or factory error.  Wish we knew what her original hair color was!

Thank you for posting princess :bigups:

I notice the paler Baby has different coloured eyes as well. I don't think it's due to fading as her symbols are still so bright.

The Argie ponies do have some odd variants, I'm thinking of the painted Baby Starbows, Brides and Gingerbreads. It would hardly surprise me if she was some sort of an oops.
