Best hair straightener? Heavy wavy hair, help!!
« on: March 28, 2016, 11:26:47 AM »
I don't hate my revlon one. It works ok. But I have insanely thick, wavy hair. Can anyone recommend a better one? Is there such a thing as a hot comb or something I can comb through? If I leave my hair curly/wavy it gets bushy and fuzzy no matter what I put in it.

I use ghds every time they tend to work if I am not in a humid or wet climate. My hair is ...... ...... Well think long, semi thick and like I out my finger in an electrical socket each morning.

I'm a hairstylist, I use a GHD and a Babyliss nano titanium at work, but I typically use the Babyliss when it comes to my clients with thick coarse hair.  I use a 1" at work, but some of my clients with thick hair prefer the 1 1/4" for personal use.

I would suggest a GHD.  I have had one for 6 years and I know it is expensive, but they are well-rated and last.  I did quite a bit of research before I bought one.  However, I don't have thick hair.  I would also suggest a good heat protector spray.  I hope you can find one that you like.

Mine cost almost $200, but I use Babyliss Nano Titatium Pro and I have had it since 2007- yeah its lasted me about a decade! Its the really skinny blue straighter with silver mirror plates! I have frizzy wavy hair, to where I look like I have Merida hair, and it makes my hair crazy straight and soft even on setting 15! It goes all the way up to a 50 or so heat setting, but I have never used it passed 15. I got mine as a Christmas pressie from my dad, which is the only reason I got one in the first place xD he got it at ulta (he left the sticker on it lol) but I see them all the time at Sally's!
Its this super skinny one:

A good sampoo and conditioner also help do the trick with my hair! I use Ichikami shampoo and conditioner, $16 a bottle for each but worth it!

Ooooo lalala

I tried straightening my hair once. (I have curly medium texture hair.) It was horrible, and I vowed to never try it again. Frizz wins every time.

I used a Chi straightener for years till I cut my hair short. I loved that thing and it got the job done well. My ex broke it and I've never replaced it since my hair is short now. I've been told newer versions don't work well and to buy old ones if possible though.

I have several but like the wet to straight the best. The chi is good to.

Always been told hotter is better as you do one quick pass. I see people go over and over same sections and that's what is so bad.

-flails around wildly-

I have the answer to this one due to my last sales job at the mall!!! JOSE EBER negative ionic technology straightener. It utilizes the natural oils in your hair to create a steam that naturally conditions and  straightens your hair from the inside out. Lol I had to learn an entire sales pitch for giving demonstrations of the product but stopping random mall shoppers from a kiosk was a bit too stressful for an introvert like me so now I work somewhere else haha :silly:

It's a bit pricey but comes with a lifetime guarantee (how many other companies can say that?!!) so it's definitely worth checking out!! josecurl.com although if you can find a kiosk in your local mall, the price is waaay cheaper!!!!
