Thanks everyone for the replies.

I gave Parasol a wash on delicate low spin with Tide free and gentle. I tossed her in the dryer on delicate as well. She came out mostly dry but her rump smells like a dirty diaper. I'm a little concerned about the smell. I didn't think to smell her before I put her in the wash and I hadn't noticed any smell before. I'm giving Posey a wash now, she didn't smell before she went in, I'm hoping she deosn't come out with one.

Any recommendations on how to get the smell out of Parasol?  Also any ideas what they are worth?

Put her in on soak cycle with the tide. Squeeze the majority of water out by hand and repeat, repeat, repeat. Until the smell is gone. Then put her through a full delicate cycle again before drying again.
I had a cat that got crystals and peed all over my daughters plushies. that's how I got the cat pee smell out. For stuffies I wasn't worried about damaging I used the normal spin cycle instead of squeezing by hand.

I read this as brushes... had to come look as I was mightily confused! Uhh.. rinse them?!

As for plushes, I second the pillowcase method. I *try* to always do mine in summer here in Australia, when we have a really dry day with little humidity, I pop them in the machine, then air dry them in the shade. I usually use the hood of our car inside the garage. Plenty of ventilation and heat, but no direct sunlight to fade.

I agree with what everyone has already mentioned.  Have gotten great results with machine washing in pillowcase followed by air drying.

I also use a washcloth folded onto half lengthwise and secured with a non-metal elastic to cover the eyes to avoid scratching during machine washing.

Also, for really rough hair, soaking the hair only in fabric softener helps prior to washing.

Standing them to air dry on a flat surface is also important, as it will help their hooves remain flat and hopefully help them remain in a standing pose.

Here's Lofty and Baby Lofty after machine washing and air drying.

I still say plush ponies are hoof-wash only   :nerdy:
