I love little libraries! I keep some spare books in my car for trading while on the road and I'll pull over for them. There has been a few times I've left change or a dollar if I didn't have a book on me instead. One of those times was for a mint condition Star Wars pop up Ewok story.

Basically you put a weatherproof box in your yard or other approved public space (some are at parks, schools, etc) and fill it with a few books.  People are supposed to come and leave a book/ take a book.  There are 4 within walking distance of my house and two where I work downtown.  You'll always find me carrying a bag of books to share...

Oh I love little libraries! Theres one in the park a mile from my home, and another at the lake (a GREAT place for one!)

I've found some great books in there, I also try to keep spare books I'm done reading in my car/bag for trading! If I don't happen to have an extra book on me, I really don't worry, I live so close to these two that it's super easy to just swoop in and drop some books in there. :p

You guys are really lucky that there are so many in your area! We sort of have one on the first floor of the library where I work, but it's not a little box -- it's just a shelf that works the same way. I frequently find myself supplying the shelf with lots of books at once, but sometimes the shelf gets really stagnant (like, people drop off too many books that no one wants).
