I need help finding music
« on: January 25, 2016, 08:28:48 AM »
Very specific music. You see, I'm trying to learn Spanish and music is supposed to help. Well, I've found a band that I LOVE but.......I'm sorta making hubby nuts because they have only one album......So I need some help finding some new Spanish pop. I need something fun to listen to and upbeat but not terribly bass heavy or jarring because I like to listen to it while I sleep, too. Right now I pretty much have DVICIO (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvjS9kDgtTs) on an endless loop. I like Abraham Mateo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P--o4v4wABs), too, but his music will make it too difficult for hubby to sleep.  One of the best things about most of his, though, is they are an odd mix of Spanish and English. So........help? Do you know of any similar sounding bands/artists? I tend to like higher male voices and lower female voices. Females in general I don't tend to like. Their voices tend to be too high and they hurt my ears, but I will give them a try if you think they sound nice. I like happy music, so I tend to prefer pop, but I actually like many different sorts of music, so I'll give most things a listen. I do not, however want them full of cursing or violence. Those aren't my thing. So nothing I'm going to need an ID to buy, please.

If you're not listening to Shakira, you really should. She also has a really low voice, very similar to Cher's. :) Most of her albums are in Spanish -- I would most highly recommend Oral Fixation vol. 1 (volume 2 is all of the same songs but in English).

BTW, if female voices are hurting your ears you might have the treble turned up too high? Maybe turn it down on your device to below 0.

I don't know if Peruvian Spanish is the same as regular Spanish, but I'm still in love with this song that a friend from Peru sent me 10 years ago. :D It may not be suitable to listen to when you go to sleep as it's kind of a loud rock song, but it's really awsome.

And I still know the lyrics by heart, even though I don't speak a word of Spanish, so I can tell you that it definitely sticks. XD

Thanks! Those are both pretty cool! And Shakira is from Colombia and that's awesome since that's where 2 of my kids (and 2 of the main reasons I'm trying to learn Spanish in the first place) are from!
