What's the weirdest story you have about getting a pony?

When i see things like that i always wonder how these poor girls arrived here. Like someone said let's bury a pony in the garden , it should be fun?

Maybe they were hoping they'd get a pony tree?

No weird stories here, I'm afraid. My life is pretty boring.

What kinda fertilizer  would you need for that?

Besides the amazing wealth of things I find at thift stores, probably just last week. I found the now 3 year old Walmart exclusive Through the Mirror Fashion Style Celestia and Luna! Two major long-time wants for me. They had more too, but I wasn't sure if anyone would want them besides myself
They have had the TtM line Twilight doll (one without the pony) in clearance forever, but never expected to find the FS Alicorns! <3

Now if only they had the Mirror Sunset Shimmer again...ahh xD

I have loads of awesome memories of carbooting with  my sister between about 1995 (when we discovered MLP was not in stores any more) and 2000. My sister was almost 8 when we began carbooting, and small, cute and very clever. So she was always getting things given to her for free. Especially dragons. But we were a hunting team. I remember one carboot sale, she spotted Lightning and Princess Pearl, 2 ponies I had been desperate for since a child. She literally threw her arms around the box and LAY on it so nobody else could get to them first. I still remember her screeching "Princess Pearl and Lightning!" at the TOP of her voice.

So my Pearl and Lightning are thanks to my sister. At that time there was another collector around, and she was at the stall at the same time as we were. Thus Naynie's antics. But because of that, the other collector (who was a brat) got an Italian Heart Throb from the stall. Naynie was in love with Heart Throb at that time, and she wasn't sold in the UK, so finding her here in any form was very unusual. This brat collector waved Heart Throb in her face, and my sister wound up in floods of tears.

So. Roll on to 1998, and this collector sold up all her ponies (or left them to her Dad to sell) at the carboot sale. And believe me, I went through every single box to find that Heart Throb.

Naynie now owns her. Although she has a regular HT as well, now, and a Baby one, that one is special, as she was her reward for Pearl and Lightning that day .

The other weird story also involves my sister. We were on holiday in Wales, and on the beach we found a stranded starfish. We wanted to help it, so we got our bucket and spade and put it in the bucket and took it out to sea. I don't know if we managed to save it, but we tried. Before we put it out into the sea, Naynie named it. She called it "Barnacle" because he was her favourite boy pony, and she didn't have one yet.

That weekend, when we came home, Barnacle was at the Car Boot sale, with his hat and bandana. He is really in excellent condition, his hair still curly. He's also now part of Naynie's pony herd. He's the only boy pony I don't have myself, because, honestly, I can't beat the starfish karma

Say...can I borrow your sister next time I go pony hunting? I'll pay her in ponies and three fancy meals.

 

LOL she can be bribed with both of the above. She is constantly trying to steal my ponies when she's home, because most of hers are currently in storage xD.

She is not so small and cute now, though...still just as clever

Is it possible a dog buried the pony by the way?

We never buried ponies, but we did abseil them out of my bedroom window...Mainsail and Sand Digger, to see if their hair changed. Kids are funny.

The only other story I have was finding Gypsy at Dad's school fete  when I was about 10, and stalking the Orange stall until the fete opened as they wouldn't let me buy it until then. I stood and glared at them for about 30 mins. I was not leaving without Gypsy... And I didn't. She cost 30p

I dug one up!  No, literally, I found one in buried in the ground when I was helping my sister dig a garden at her new house.  She took forever to clean up and still has a cut on her hind hoof from where the shovel hit her, but I wouldn't change a thing about her.

She looks pretty good except for the cut from the shovel.  I thought about fixing it with apoxie & repaint but I think it gives her character so I left it.

Best story ever! I love this Can you imagine that poor CC - all those years buried thinking she was on her way to the big toy box in the sky, never to see sunlight again - and then you come along and save her Awesome!

Last year, I was at Walmart and bought a Rarity and Princess Luna brushable 2-pack.  This toy was like 3 years old.  The Walmart wasn't just behind on their toys, because everything else was the current stuff and I had been there before and they didn't have this two-pack.  I always wondered how it got there.  Did someone return it after 3 years?  If so, kudos on their receipt keeping skills.

One time I got a g1 baby in good condition for free at a yard sale.  It was odd because it was the only g1 pony there and the people were selling g4 ponies. So why was that one free if you're selling other ponies?  At another garage sale, that was like at a little car repair place, it was nothing but tools except for some g1 ponies!

I actually bought my Rarity/Lyna pack last spring at my Walmart too. They only had one

In 2005 or 2006, I can't remember, I found a G1 newborn twin sitting in the grass by the road only a block from my home. Scariest part was it was one I needed!( my sis joked it was coming to joinnites sister, since I had just gotten the other one).

Another time a kid I know mabe her mom stop and rescue a baby pony out of the road so she could give it to me, hehe; it was baby Starbow!

Okay, now I want to know who is just throwing their G1 ponies around the neighbourhood for no reason?
Is this some sort of weird horse-themed scavenger hunt going on...? Because I want in.


I haven't had any unusual methods of finding ponies but I did find something weird (read:gross)

Well i have a bitter sweet story but its not a random find. I brought a brazil love melody and got it sent to a friends house... the postie threw the parcel with her over my friends fence and she became a very expensive dog chew toy  . My friend was so upset by this and brought me another pony who ended up being brazil milkyway. So i set out to buy one pony and got a completely different one by default.

Mine isn't a "weird" story, but a very sweet one.

I attended a children's musical camp as a kid, for - gosh, years and years! And once I was "too old" to be IN the productions, they offered me a role working as a camp aide/assistant teacher for the younger camps! So that was pretty awesome, and I had a pretty great summer there! (I was known as the "pony lady," and I'd give the kids extra credit for printing me out pictures of ponies and coloring them in for me! We also got hand-puppets made for us with each of the kid's faces, a nice little keepsake, and they made MINE with a pony face!! I gotta get a picture of it sometime!)

At the end of camp, there's always a musical production, and I was assigned to help the stage manager, who was also a teenager like me, but had been doing tech stuff for years. She taught me the ropes, we giggled backstage and traded silly jokes, and we got pretty close during our last weeks of camp together. At the last performance, which is traditional for people to give "thank you" cards and gifts, she came up to me with a small, lumpy envelope. She told me that this was a pony she had played with as a kid, and she wanted me to have it, knowing that I loved ponies so much, and would give her a good home. I protested (since I'm wildly nostalgic about my own childhood toys, I couldn't imagine taking someone else's!), but she insisted, and I went home with a pony I had never seen before:

Baby Posey, from Argentina! She was a totally new pony to me, as I knew very little about Nirvanas at the time, I assumed she was a UK baby I'd never seen before! It was such a generous gift, and such a lovely reminder of my days at camp.

The only time I've ever found a G1 'in the wild' was when I had to attend school in Perth for six months due to my Dad's job. It was abject misery of being bullied and away from all my friends, but there were tiny good things that happened along the way, like when the Year 7s decided to have some kind of thrift market day. We kept the donation bin in our classroom and most of the stuff was donated junk, either broken toys, dirty clothes/stuffed animals (had to throw away one with puke on it) or McDonalds toys, but suddenly a pony appeared in the bin one day! Needless to say, on stall day, I kept her artfully hidden until I was able to purchase her. I don't remember how much she was, but I came away with Sweetsteps Ballerina Posey Rose! Interestingly enough, she's wearing pony makeup (purple eyeshadow and pink lipstick), which may or may not be the stuff that was actually packaged with the ponies at one point!
