Is the pony really hard- like from plasticizer break down?  I usually just kind of flex and push the feet so that the swab reaches down to the bottoms.  It could also be the pose though.  You could also get a long-nosed hemostat from a hardware store (or harbor freight if you've got one nearby) or see if you've got one in your mom's nursing stuff.   You should be able to use it to hold a piece of cotton or rag and push that in the leg to clean it.

Nope, she's still pretty squishy. I tried manipulating her legs so I could see straight into the hooves but I still can't get at them well enough to get all of the gunk.

If you have a Harbor Freight within driving distance, they have long tweezers and hemostats that work great for getting into hard to reach places for pony cleaning.  Also helpful for pulling hair out for customizing/rehairing.

Hemastats- that is exactly what I was going to suggest! I have used them for hard to reach places and for rusty hooves, too! I actually clamp onto a q-tip using the hemastats and bend the q-tip as needed. I have as used hemastats for rehairing, too.  I think they are also sold at places like Surplus City and Tractor Supply.  They come in handy for different things.

Denture cleaning tablets and water.  It may need to be repeated, but all kinds of yuck bubble out.

What about cheese cloth rubber banded to a bent wire hanger?

I wouldn't have thought about denture cleaning tablets, but that makes sense! I may have to get some to add to my pony spa kit, haha

I would absolutely second denture tables...they are amazing for what they will get out of hard to reach places. And also brushpicks or interdental brushes are great for getting in hard to reach places :)

Denture tablets ended up being the answer. I use them all the time on gross inside ponies now. Then I deal with the hooves and stuff with hemostats with gauze pads on the ends.

Small bottle brushes or spout brushes, the kind used for cleaning baby bottles or teapot spouts. Children's tooth brushes work too as they have a smaller head.

Soaking (filling the inside of the pony with water) and denture tablets work well though too :bigups:
