Ebay buyer wants items shipped to different address?
« on: November 10, 2015, 11:55:06 AM »
My mom listed some of my Pokemon cards on eBay for me, and we seem to be having some issues with a buyer.

The registered address, or whatever you call it, on the account the guy bid and won from has a US mailing address for shipping... But he wants the cards shipped to Australia. I don't at all mind shipping internationally, but I seem to recall reading about some issues other Arena members had with sending the packages to a different address.

I'm getting my info second-hand, as my mom is the one actually talking to the buyer, but from what I understand, the address on the ebay account is somewhere the buyer lived/stayed while in the US, while their main/home address is in Australia.

I'm just not sure what to do... The total order is pretty expensive; around $300 before shipping, so I'm really worried about possibly losing seller protection if something were to happen.

Any advice?

For my part, I have at last 5 different adress that I use in ebay, changing them when whit each purchase depending what i want to use. One is my main adress from Uruguay and the other 4 from Friends homes that recive things for me or my own mailbox at Miami. (Even another in UK for other friend)

I never have problem at sending my things to USA even if my registred adress when I create my account is from Uruguay (I think they call it billing adress). Ebay give the option of change adress at the time you pay, so...

When he paid for the item, what adress appear at the receipt? That is usually the important one.

Btw, if all the talks alwats be in ebay, you or your mother can use that message if something happend, showing that you do what the buyer want in any case.

If you send the cards to anywhere except his verified PayPal address, you are not protected by PayPal as a seller.  I wouldn't do it for a $300 order.

What about refunding the first payment, and then having him change his verified address to his Australian address, and then having him repay you?  That's what I'd suggest to him.

I do not think you are protected either. I would have them change there mailing address on the account and then pay for the item so then it will show the correct address. you can also call Ebay to be sure

He hasn't actually paid yet, so I'm *hoping* that's the reason for the address discrepancy; maybe it's just showing the account's default address until the order is actually paid for and he selects a different one?

I definitely won't send them if the address he wants them to go to matches neither Ebay or Paypal... But what happens if the Paypal address matches where he wants them sent but the one on the Ebay order doesn't? Are Mom and I protected at all if we send to that address?

The adress you select at ebay at the moment to pay is the one that appear at the bill in paypal, so that would be not a problem.  :)

I think the best you can do actually is call ebay and ask them for help. I would said send a email, but for what I know for others ebay take their time to reply those.

I completely agree! I feel it must be done this way. That way you are protected and if anything happens you have proof of his address.
