G1 princess and dragon balloons?
« on: September 26, 2015, 10:46:19 AM »
Hello

Just sorting stuff for Ponycon and wondering  if anyone knows anything about some balloons (standard round ones not shaped or foil or anything,  just what you would have for a party)  that are printed with Iimages of g1 princesses with their dragons?

I was wondering  where they originally came from.  Perhaps magazine gifts or activity club?

Any thoughts on origin and a pc appreciated

Thanks

I think they were sold in packets of five or ten.  I'm pretty sure I've seen old advertisements/mail order offers for them in the G1 comics, sold alongside the more common Bow Tie and Applejack partyware.  No idea on value though.

The party ware offer did feature balloons but I cant remember for certain who featured on them...although from memory the picture was of a yellow balloon with some other colours not inflated. I did think they said MLP on them though and the picture was underneath the logo. I could be wrong though.

Comic #155 came with a free balloon as well and the princesses popped up quite a bit so that could also be the source. I just dont recall what the balloon looked like unfortunately.

I have an unopened pack of 8 similar looking balloons that look like they were part of a party range. I can see a yellow one on one side with Bubbles and a pink one on the other side with Cotton Candy that is pink, but can't get at the others easily. They do have their names listed underneath, though the artwork is similar (standard UK lines), so it could be that Cat is right and it's the one from the comic.
