Has anypony heard of....

American Heritage Girls?

Just curious if anybody knows about it.

If not here's some info:  (And no I don't mean to sound like I'm advertising it, it's just a really cool program.)

American Heritage Girls (AHG)  is a Christian-based, girl-led, scouting organization for girls ages 5-18.
At least that's the essence of it in one line. ;)

We do a lot of fun activities, everything from camping and backpacking to arts and crafts.

So I was just curious if any of you arena  members knew about it?

Yes I have heard of it, but I prefer to support organizations who are more inclusive to all, such as the Girl Scouts/Guides.

I've heard of it, but never joined - I was in Girl Scouts until I was fourteen.

I wish I'd had the opportunity, though - GS cookie / nuts sales' have left a sour taste in my mouth due to their business practices. (We would work our rear ends off to sell a box of $4 cookies / nuts, and only receive $0.75 per box for our efforts. :/ ) Not that the association was bad, mind you, I just didn't agree with that.

I was actually in cub scouts when I was a kid--they allowed both boys AND girls to join (typically you would thing its boys only).

Im going to drop down a gentle reminder to keep things civil.  Everything is awesome soo far but I would hate for things to get out of hand <3

Thanks for the reminder.  I just thought it'd be fun to see who knew about it but I'll be sure to ask a mod to close it if it gets out of hand.  ;)

Ooh, I didn't know girls could join cub scouts! I had wanted to be a boy scout when I was a kid, but instead I was a girl scout and wasn't super impressed with it. As an adult I've realized that it was just a matter of my scout troups choosing "boring" activities for our troups, but when I was a kid I thought Girl Scouts was all about drawing and sewing and learning to cook... I wanted to go hiking and stuff like that!

Re: the original topic -- I've heard of American Heritage Girls, but I don't know much about it. How did it get its name? It sounds a lot like a different name for American Girl dolls. ;)
