Keeping Ponies MIB?
« on: August 14, 2015, 12:29:58 PM »
I have been buying a lot of the new Brushables and Equestria Girls and am planning to keep them MIB.  Some of them have clearance tags on them.  Most tags are easy to remove without leaving much residue.  My question is: do I remove the clearance tags and price tags or leave them on?  What do you do?

If you're planning on displaying the ponies/dolls, and you can get the stickers off without leaving damage or residue, I'd definitely say take them off. They're rather distracting, IMO.

I personally would take the stickers off. They almost always come off easily and leave no residue :)

I can only really apply this to G1, but I leave them on. I think it's interesting to see where they came from and how much they cost, years into the future. It's up to you though. G4 are a lot smaller, and they tend to put stickers in awkward places.

So, if I were to sell these in maybe 20 years, do you think that the clearance tag would affect the value?

Impossible to say, since nobody knows the value g4 stuff will command in 20 years time.

As a g1 MOC/MIB collector who has upwards of 60 of them, I'd say I've never really made a judgment to pay more or less based on a price sticker unless it was like in front of the pony's face or something and I don't think that's even happened.

I agree with the vintage toys, I actually LIKE seeing thr stickers... Not that I own any mib G1 but I like looking at pics with stickers on them ^^*

I have no clue how it affects value... I think if I had a modern toy like a G4 my personal preference would be to remove the sticker but I think it ultimately comes down to what you like.

I am a price tag hater on everything! ;-) On the most things like make-up or things like that I use nail polish remover without acetone or baby oil!

But with older gen Ponies I would leave the tag, because the glue is hardened and if you try to take it off you would ruin the back card!

With the G4 I have still MIB/MOC, I pull of the sticker from the front and put it on a piece of paper and slide it in the box! Or if this isn't possible I put the tag on the backside over the bar code or underneath the box/package.

I know that price tags are important among other collectable vintage toys, like Star Wars. All the swedish collectors are obsessed with finding "swedish sold" moc toys. And a swedish price tag is the only proof of that. But I don't really see that among MLP collectors.
I prefer my moc's without the price tag though! :)

I like this as well - the little bit of history about where they come from.

However, if you prefer neat and tidy, I would remove price stickers or sale stickers but keep things like the exclusive stickers. :)

If they are easy to remove and are just price stickers then I think it's ok to remove them. Probably won't affect the value of them all that much in the future, I think. ^.^ But if there's any exclusive stickers or something like that on them then I say leave those since it shows that they're exclusives. :)

I don't own any MIB, but I suppose it would just be up to the owner. Personally, I would leave any and all stickers on there, just for completeness and story telling lol..   :satisfied:

I keep all of my ponies the way they come. But I do them off my Breyer boxes.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention though, sticker residue they couldn't clean up will make me not pay as much. Soo if you're gonna take it off make sure you get it all the way off. :)
