concealed HASBRO stamp?

I just recently re-discovered my passion for Pony collecting, which is why a big part of my collection rested in the basement of my mom's house - left, but not forgotten
I finally got around visiting her, and of course, I also took some time to take care of my Ponies. Now that I know a lot more about G1 Ponies, it was like going through a whole new collection! I found a lot of hidden treasures. One of them is Nightlight!

But something is a little odd. The underside of the hoof where the HASBRO stamp is supposed to be is concealed by a drop of melted plastic. Aside from that, she does not look like a fakie at all.

Does somebody know what's up with that? I made some pictures, so you can see what I mean:

I think its common on some of the international ponies - I know my Argie Felecidades is like this

I have seen that on Nightlight before. Can't tell you the reason why though.

My Nightlight also has that, and I believe Raindrop does too.

I have quite a few ponies like this if memory serves. Normally ones made in other countries I think

I'm wondering if it has to do with the fact that ponies in other countries were produced by different companies other than Hasbro, such as the Lily Ledy ponies from Mexico, Basa in Peru, Takara in Japan, etc.  How the license purchasing like that went I'm not really sure, but I would suspect it would have to do with the manufacture and distributor in the country of origin.  Possibly something to do with whatever of those toy companies bought rights to production also bought rights to stamp the ponies with their brand name?

This set were made through normal channels, not licensed out. Hummelchen's card says Hong Kong abd Hasbro, no under licence from. Nightlight comes from the same set.

I looked at my ponies: the two Nightlights with small symbol have also the drop instead the HASBRO stamp, the Raindrop with small symbol too. But the Nightlight and Raindrop with large symbol have very normal "83 Hasbro" under the hoofs. That seems that only the ponies with the small symbols have this drop.

This is normal, I've seen other Nightlight's with this same cover up. My guess is they got carried away covering up the pat pend stamp.

This is what I always assumed as well with these girls but then I had one pass though my hands recently and it made me question myself a little. Unlike with the pad pend cover ups where it mostly appears as though the mould itself was damaged to cover up the mark, these girls look as though a different bit of plastic was then melted in place over the finished product.

I wondered if it was covering up the brand for a reason...perhaps due to where the toy was being sold?

You are right! It does look like it was added on after rather than either scraped out or covered up on the mould. It's obvious now you mention it.

I had the pony here a week before I noticed the difference Because we are so used to it being the other way, I did not really notice it at first either! So easy to do.

I just checked my ponies and my small symbol Raindrop has the filled in hoof. The plastic feels different it's smooth and shiny.
