I'm confused which one are you asking on - the Black Art Pony - which was released back in 2008 as the first in the series of Art Ponies or the Fair Ponies which 5 of are pictured or the Fish Art Pony or the Pop Art Pony both of who were released later in 2008 if I recall correctly.

I kind of sounds like you might be asking about the Pony Project.

But except for the Junko Mizuno none of those were ever made into toys.

Some of the ponies in the image are art ponies, which were collector-oriented ponies.  The orange pop pony and the underwater pony were released at the same time.  I think the black pony with blue decoration was also an art pony.

The others are Pony Fair ponies, exclusive ponies created for the MLP Fair.  The pink pony and the white and yellow pony were released the same year, one being for the US fair and one being for an international fair (can't remember if it was the UK one or a German one or both.)

I think possibly you are also thinking of the Pony Project (with the thing about designers being asked to participate).   The Pony Project involved giving HUGE blank white ponies to various artists and letting them customize them however they wished.  None of these ponies are from that.

I hope that's clear but if not let me know. :)

Well the Peacock pony was the 2009 MLP Fair Exclusive pony. Dandelion was the 2010 Fair exclusive, and Egyptian was the 2011 Fair exclusive. Sunny Grace was for the 2008 MLP Fair in UK. The Providence pony was the 2008 MLP Fair exclusive. She's known as the Providence Rhode Island Fair Pony. The Underwater pony and the one above it known as Pop, they were 2009 Collector Art ponies. I'm not sure when and where they were given out at though. I'm unsure about the black and blue pony.

Black and blue pony was an art pony. :) I believe like the pop and underwater ponies, she was an online exclusive either through Hasbro's shop or another toy retailer.

As others have said its whether you mean the ponies released for everyone to purchase (i.e. the Art ponies) or the pony project.

Assuming its just the Art ponies then there were really only 4:

Black
Underwater
Pop
Junko Mizuno

They were available for everyone to purchase. All the other art style ponies were available at the MLP Fair/SDCC - the 2008 Pink and Yellow/Black releases were probably closest to the Art idea.

If you include all the SDCC ponies, all the Fair ponies which were not characers or releases plus these 4 you only get to 16 ponies in total I think.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

Thanks to all for information!
The man who gave me this information in first post, brought me into delusion. I know about Pony Project and i suspected. It turns out that to create Art ponies was not invited third-party designers specifically?

Yes--the Art Ponies were designed by Hasbro, not third party artists. :)

Except the Junko Mizuno pony.

She is an Art Pony, but she is based on a Pony Project pony designed by artist Junko Mizuno.

But all the other Art Ponies were designed by Hasbro.
