Exact Price to Ship an Equestria Girls doll?
« on: July 07, 2015, 06:55:24 AM »
Hey, does anyone know how much the U.S. shipping costs for Equestria Girls dolls are? I'm still trying to get Octavia, and a member has very kindly offered to get one for me, but I'd like to know how much the shipping would actually be, since I know it can climb sky high. I know a lot of members get merchandise for other members who can't find it, so I'm hoping someone knows the exact shipping cost of a doll of that weight, in the original box.

That will depend heavily upon where on earth you are, and I dont believe you said where you were so we cant help you calculate it without knowing that.

You can figure it out if you know the weight- using www.usps.com (assuming they are mailing from the US)

I said U.S. ;) I didn't really think I needed to get more specific. It's from the U.S. to the U.S.

Yeah, weight is not something I know. It would be cool if someone actually had a scale in their home that they could use to weigh a box like that.

It really depends on how the doll is packaged. The doll itself may only weigh 6 oz- but wrapped really well in bubbles, or in minimal packaging- if you are willing to take that risk-  I can usually get the package to just under 1 lb.

Unless you are doing medium flat rate priority (which you can look up) - you need to know the zip origin and destination for all first class packages. It varies a LOT depending on where the package is going.

As Galactica said, it depends how the doll is packed.  If it's MIB then presumably it's going to be shipped in a box . . . Not only does it depend on the size of box, but also what type of padding is used.  Those "air pockets" Amazon likes to use are lighter than crumpled up newspaper, for example.

Also, the price will depend on the where in the US you and the seller are.  The closer they are to you, the less it will cost.

Yeah, as I said, I was looking for the price if she was in the original box.

I think we're across the country from each other....

I apologize, I was a little vague in my last post.  :)

What I meant was it depends on the size of shipping box that they use, not the size of the doll's packaging.  Because sometimes people have a box that fits the MIB item perfectly and other times they only have a larger box on hand, so they use that and keep the item securely in place with lots of padding.

Yeah, true. Though would even a big shipping box be expensive if it didn't weigh much?

If you know the seller's zipcode, or a general idea of where they're located, you can always look up the weight and everything for the doll on Target/Walmart/Amazon's website and then calculate it yourself for a rough idea. ^_^

Obviously it wouldn't be exact, as the weight/size of the box they ship to you in would be factored in as well as any packaging supplies, but it'd at least give you a somewhat close idea.

If you don't care about the original box, you could also ask the seller to debox for you for cheaper shipping; that drastically reduces the shipping price because then it can go via First Class whereas a MIB doll would have to go either Parcel Post or Priority.

I've shipped several Barbie and Monster High dolls that way, to buyers all over the US, and have never had the shipping come to more than $3-4 even after factoring in the cost of the packaging supplies.

Thanks! :) I did really want the box, even though I do de-box. I keep the boxes around too, stored.

I totally spaced out on not realizing Amazon listed the weight. I remembered a little bit ago and looked it up.
