Planning a trip to England!
« on: June 20, 2015, 12:36:52 AM »
Hello, fellow Arena members! This summer my family is going to spend a week on England! We are so glad because this was one of our dream vacations  :yippee:

The problem is, we don't know what to plan: there are too many things to see and do! One of the definite places we are going to is London, but I would like to hear interesting places to visit from other cities and towns too.

Could you please recommend us any websites or share your personal experiences?

Oh, by the way, I'm going to take the chance and grab some things that never arrived to my country (Ponies, Zelfs, Neopets and Harry Potter stuff, mostly...  :devious:) Where do they sell these things? Any second-hand shops or flea markets? Yeah, really odd to go to thrift shopping while in vacation but hey, if I get the chance...

There are SO many amazing places in England, I lived there for 1.5 years and still didn't see probably more than 5% of the country. I guess it just depends on what your interested in seeing. You could easily spend a week just in London :)  I really enjoyed Bath which is about 2.5 hrs drive West of London. Plus you pass by Stonehenge and some other really interesting places along the way.

Tripadvisor.com is always a great place if your looking for attractions, hotels & places to visit. Especially since its review based :)

I'm obsessed with the Tudors, so... my entire vacation would revolve around them! If you see anything Tudor related, take pictures for me! :D

I'm so jelly of your vacation!

Oh dear, you've got some tough decisions ahead of you, making up your minds what to see. Like Sea Breeze said, you could easily spend a week alone in London and barely make a scratch on all the great things to see here. If you like the seaside, Brighton is only about an hour from London by train. As you already seem to have decided on going to London, why not focus on south east England? You can still see lots of different places, but you'll save time travelling all over the country.

A lot of the places i'd advise seeing are up north :) York is a beautiful city with the oldest street in england there and tons of history.  And Manchester has some awesome shopping and is just a fun city to go to ^_^

But York is up north lol. It's even further north than i am ^_~

But i would agree that what you'll be able to see all depends on where you are staying and how much travelling you want to do :)

There's a Harry Potter store in the London King's Cross station! I'm not really a HP fan sadly, so I can't tell you exactly what stuff was there (I briefly looked in for Norbert or dragon merch, but I couldn't find any) though I do remember there being a lot of expensive replica items, if that helps? :P

Neopets I haven't seen in some years, Zelfs and ponies can be found in TRU, Hamley's (there's one of those in London too, but they're a fair amount more expensive than outside London of course), Tesco supermarkets, Asda supermarkets and The Entertainer stores (no Zelfs there though).

Hope that helps a bit!
