Happy Tails mechanism isn't working?

Tabby must be feeling under the weather; she certainly isn't happy.

Joke aside, I'm not sure what happened to her. Like most of my collection, she's been in storage and hasn't had any heavy boxes set on her, nor has she been shaken. From closer inspection, it almost feels as though the mechanism has been turned on its side. Is that even possible? I really don't want to have to cut her neck seal in order to fix her.

Sometimes the mechanism does flip so that you have to squeeze the pony's stomach and back instead of their sides.
