Help please...must remove inside gadget of playtime pony

I managed to remove the head and the piece that goes inside the head, but the part that is attached to the inside of the body, what a nightmare.  I am going to end up destroying baby Drummer if I continue with my madness.  Is there a trick?  I tried soaking in hot water to soften the glue, but holy cow! It's like good grief Charlie Brown   

Help, anyone?!?

Two things I learned today

First off,  I am not as patient as I once thought, the gadget has been removed
Second, I did not stand a chance of getting that piece out without causing a little internal damage.  That thing was superglued on and wrapped down and around the rubber gadget.

The important thing now is that it is done and Drummer is ready for some new hair.

Its old gallery information unfortunately...we were lucky to salvage any of it when we moved. However there should be enough info shown to help out.

I did come across the gallery pictures, and as noted previously, they would not open for me when I clicked on them.  I tried to follow the images, but the piece that was in the body, it was not going to separate without tearing the vinyl.  I tried both hot water and heat from a blow dryer to try to soften the glue; no luck.  I can still take pictures of the internal mechanisms and post pictures once I figure out how.  I opened up a photobucket account because of this forum.

It was the gallery photos that gave me the courage to pursue taking off Drummer's head.  Just now waiting for his new hair to arrive.
