Selling Barbie clothes? And some non-Barbie IDs?
« on: May 09, 2015, 10:09:34 AM »
I got all of these in a lot of doll clothes (just wanted the MLP items in there), so now I have a bunch of Barbie and related accessories that I don't want. I think I'm going to just try to sell them as one lot, but I don't really know anything about pricing or identifying Barbie clothes. Anyone have any suggestions or see anything that stands out? (Do people here on the Arena buy Barbie stuff or should I take it to eBay?)

Also, can anyone help me ID some of this and tell me what that outfit is on Herself the Elf? It looks so familiar but I don't know from where: visitors can't see pics , please register or login

I know the chair is Barbie and the mermaids and combs are Sea Wees, but that's it. And what about that purple cape thing? It kind of looks like it would fit an MLP, but I don't recognize it.

I can't help you on prices, but are any of those Ken clothes? I've always wanted that dog too. No clue on prices though.

The outfit Herself is wearing belongs to a doll produced in Japan. The line was similar to Strawberry Shortcake and from the same time period. There's one listed on Etsy.

The blue bodysuit and pink bag with blue straps in the first pic are from the first Great Shape Barbie (she was rereleased for Toy Story 3)

The white skirt with hearts is from Loving You Barbie.

The pink fur stole in the last pic is from Pink n Pretty Barbie.

Still looking up stuff, lol!

Oh, thanks! You don't need to look up everything! I was just wondering if there was anything obviously "special" that I shouldn't just put in a lot together, and if anyone has suggestions about how/where to sell these. I mean, if you want to look it up, though, I'm not going to stop you either

Edit: the SSC fakie...I found one on Etsy that says "Chocolate" instead of "Orange Juice" - is that the one you mean? It's surprisingly cute!

Heehee,  I love IDing stuff so i get a little carried away. Kind of stuck now though...
I didn't see the chocolate one, cute! The listing I saw was "Vintage Blue Box Orange Juice Doll".

The velvet cape in the last pic looks like the one from Sophisticated Lady Barbie. Only thing is yours looks like it snaps closed and the pics I found show it buttons.  :wonder:

I hope someone can help with prices, I'd be interested in the items in the first three pics.

Well, I took a closer look at the velvet cape, and it looks like there are the remains of stitches where the buttons were and the snap was added later since the thread is orange. It's it pretty bad shape with seams coming out and velvet missing, but the tag, frayed as it is, does say Barbie.

Also, while cleaning the ponies I got from this lot, I found a Barbie shoe caught in the hair XD

And then there's this disintegrating vest:

Edit: You wouldn't happen to know where I can find a good picture of the Sophisticated Lady reproduction's tag, would you? Or, are the tags different? I think this is the original 1960s one and not the reproduction...the tag matches the 60s version.

the Afghan seems to be "Beauty, Barbie doll's dog", and judging by the collar she seems to be from the "Beauty and Puppies" set.

ETA: there seem to be more than one sets with this name, this is the pic I found that makes me think she's from the above mentioned set:

also, I'm no expert, and I only happened to be able to help with this by luck: I have just recently searched for something else that also brought up a picture of this dog. before that I didn't even know they existed, so I unfortunately can't help with further ID or a price. she is very cute though :3

Oh, thanks! That's really helpful - knowing what it is, I can look it up myself. I had no idea the dog was even Barbie. I wonder if that purple cape goes with her?

The sophisticated lady jacket isn't a reproduction. The bride dress is from 1983 Bride Tracy  (friend of barbie).  The teal body suit and pink gym bag are from 1984 Great Shape barbie.  The hot pink swimsuit is from 1983 twirly curls barbie.
