Gen Con 2015
« on: May 17, 2015, 08:03:18 AM »
Is anyone going to Gen Con this year ? There was a thread about it last year where a few of us talked. I asked a question back then that never was answered - how are the MLP events ? Specifically the FiM panel and Enterplay's panel that they seem to always do. Just wondering if they're worth taking the time to go to. Thanks ! :)

Also, I wish good luck to anyone who is doing event registration today ! I hope you get the events you're after. :)

And, just so nobody needs to ask.. Gen Con is an awesome gaming convention held in Indiana every summer !

Nope.

We usually go to fan expo (the biggest con in Canada--one year they oversold and people who went out couldn't get back in)--though I haven't been able to go the past few years.

ME!!!!! I bought a couple events this morning. Right now it doesn't look like there will be any Enter Play MLP events. At least they're not in the catalog.

My fiancé and I are! Event registration wasn't too stressful this year, which was nice. We are doing our typical true dungeon runs and I've got him joining me in a pendant class as well as a chain mail class ( last year we made top hats together so he has become more open to craft and skill type things lol). Can't say much about the pony things, as I haven't gone to any of them. Tried to hit up one of the card games last year or the year before but they all sold out by the time I decided to play. I do remember hearing from someone on here that the 'custom pony' event wasn't too worth it though last year.

I'm pretty happy, I'm in for a few 3DS streetpass meet ups, Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers, and some other things. Also waiting for some events that I did last year to hopefully be added again for this year !

Edit: Gah, its at the same time as one of our other events! But I looked up the music and I have to own the CDs now XD

Yes, that was me. For the love of Celestia, do NOT waste your money on this event!!!!!! I can not stress that enough. You can learn way, way, WAY more from the customs board for FREE. I knew I had wasted my money as soon as the instructor came over and asked me how I took the (G3 blank) pony apart! If you don't know how to take a pony apart, you have no business teaching a customizing class!

Oh, FYI Pokemon fans. Tournaments are BACK at GenCon! Be sure to look those up.

Gencon is so big it's half of how they keep from over filling events and rooms and help cover their operation costs. It's not ideal, but a lot of times tickets for just panels aren't too bad, most of the ones we have ever done were only about 2 bucks tops, and there are a lot of free ones too. It took me off guard the first time I went too lol.

And I remember you saying that last year, Sailor! (Thanks for jumping in :D ) I agree with your statement on how you can learn waaaaayyyyy more around here than in last year's panel.

I streamed a lot of the songs from his site and had 2 extremely hyperactive kitties for awhile. XD

sailorstitch, have you ever been to the FiM panel they tend to do ? I think it's called "This Panel is MAGIC". Is it worth it ?

One of these days I WILL go! It's not nearby, and I have a lot of closer conventions that I usually go to instead, but I always hear so much about Gen Con, so one of these years I'll be there! :) It would be great to take out some of my old costumes and wear them again at a convention where people DON'T already recognize me. ;)

Awesome, thank you ! If they don't have it on Saturday again, I'll probably try to go this year. (I have to skip going on Saturday)

I hope you're able to make it someday, at least once ! It really is quite the experience.
