Just ordered my first rehair tool and hair!! Any tips and tricks? Suggestions?

I already have some pretty g1 baits that I'm gonna work on.

2 easies - TaF Love Melody and Glitter Baby North Star (or Saturn, as I prefer to call her).
2 mediums - Glitter Sky Rocket with tinsel and G3 Waterfire custom rehair with her original color and 2 new ones.

1 hard - Princess BnG Brilliant Bloom: Yes, I'm going to attempt to take her mechanism out, re-tail with the mechanism AND re-hair her with all 3 colors (I hope I chose the right ones, and two pony hanks of each!) and purple tinsel! I think I'm a bit far from this one, but I thought I should set my sights high!

So customizers, any tips, tricks, warnings, or suggestions you'd like to share before I dive in? I have a few days 'til my hair gets here so take your time.
