Its so hard to pin down. All it takes is a small run of a playset that has already saturated the market late in the line and that could explain the random China Majesties and why they are so few in number. Or, as you say, with later releases of the playset elsewhere that could explain it better. We were seeing China releases ponies by year 5 and year 6 so I dont think the fact China LD was so late would necessarily mean Majesty also had to be so late. She could have been a later run or she could have been getting made with the earlier China made ponies.

The German nursery just has some minor differences in accessories, mainly the rattle and powder bottle. :) But again it was only in the later releases of them.

It's more a case for me that all things are possible, but there is less reason to suppose it randomly happened than to suggest it probably didn't. Especially when we have another potential explanation, and no box. I went back and doublechecked my DC date and it was definitely Feb 87 I had it, and I don't think I saw it in catalogue for 88 (may be wrong) so I am thinking it petered out around 87/early 88 and was replaced by Crimp n Curl etc. I am not sure there are many China ponies other than flutter ponies before 1988. It seems a stretch to think they would produce Majesty. It isn't impossible and Hasbro are not always predictable, but my history instinct makes me feel it is a bit anachronistic...

With the Nursery, my sister and I have different accessory colours for most of the playset. Hers was second hand though. I admit I spend much less time on thevplayset variations than ponies, as most of mine are not accessible! But the same appliws for my dance school and the accessories I got from my friend's, and then again my sister's. I think Hasbro just...did that a fair bit batch by batch, but I'm pretty sure you know more on that subject!

Question that is totally off topic-do you have any toy trader catalogues for 83 or 84? I am curious about a couple of things relating to those years...

Although there were a few China releases out along with the flutter ponies, as you say, a later release in Europe does make much more sense. It would also perfectly explain why she is so hard to find in comparison to her HK releases if her release was limited to that late DC release in some way. In addition the European release would be the only release that dates after her last MO order if my sums are right :P (always possible thats failing me). So while yes we did get a quite a few ponies that were being manufactured in HK and China at the same time, she would be a weird choice to do so and she would be better explained with a latter release. Although with Hasbro sometimes I just expect zebras when I hear hoof beats - they exist to torment.

I have 84/85 but only the US 83/84 unfortunately. I do however have incredibly dodgy scans of 83/84 on my trusty (ish) old hard drive but I am missing a couple of pages. PM me and I shall dig out what I can get :)

Will do so. Thank you :)

I always enjoy reading your posts, even if we have conflicting information, because it's always interesting what you have to say and the stuff you know about releases and stuff here. It's so much nicer now that there are so many people across the world with knowledge of so much stuff...it means that questions that have floated for a long time can, maybe, finally be answered.

Also, they did the Zebras already. Colorswirl ponies...? XD

I think its Hasbro that causes us the problem :P I love them for simply bringing us MLP...but no doubt like yourself (considering the sheer amount of knowledge you have) I have spent way too many hours trying to find logic in something that simply defies it. *now it makes sense for this to have happened because this appears here*...2 days later I find something that says *nope Cat...you is wrong...please try again*

I have licensing paperwork that contradicts what countries some things were released in so it just goes to show that even Hasbro didnt know what they were telling their own licensees at some points.

Like I said in my MIP thread, when someone asks about Hasbro UK, I show them the Fizzy on the Sunshower Backcard. That pretty much just sums it up, really.

The thing is, nobody has all the information, but at least now it's a much clearer picture. And, as you said, things seem to add up, and then...don't. I have had to move so many pages and things around on the Scrapbook while I'm still trying to get all the pages online because of bits and pieces that I realised aren't what I thought they were...

But, in fairness, it's also what keeps me interested.

Like variations in 1991/2. Why, Hasbro? Why?
