Saving boxes/cards; what do you do?

I was attempting to make some space in my pony room for some new acquisitions and I realized a lot of space was being taken up by empty boxes (mainly you funko boxes). I now have the boxes under my stairs.

So I was just wondering what everyone else does with their boxes/cards. Do you throw them away? Do you keep them? Do they increase potential value later?

I keep the backcards from my ponies if they have stories or nice art on them. I'm not sure about them increasing the value of the ponies, but some auctions on Ebay seem to go higher for nice ponies with comb/backcard, etc.

I keep anything unusual that I think might be of value later. So I keep things like G1 (everything), G2 boxes and cards. When it comes to G3 I get more picky: for common ones, I toss. For the rare ones, I keep. G4 I would do the same, except I keep those MIB.

I throw them out. I had stacks of G3 backcards at one point and I could not give them away. I ended up keeping my favourites only. The same applies for me for any released-from-packaging G4; recycle bin for the packaging. So G3 and G4 its out; for G2 and G1 they stay

I use the Funko Pop boxes as risers to display ponies.

Can you deconstruct the boxes and store them flat?

If you don't want then, offer them here... And if no one wants them I think recycling is the best option.

I regret that I don't have most of my early G1 pony cards from my childhood. I have kept the cards of the few G4 I've picked up but got rid of the bubbles.

I usually toss any packaging for my G4 ponies that I don't plan on keeping in their boxes, but I've saved all of my Funko boxes.  Right now I only keep the glitter variants in their boxes and leave the regular ones out, but I'll probably have all of them out once I move this summer.  I plan on seeing if anyone needs the boxes (I know a handful of people who would like them), otherwise I'll keep saving them.

I've got all my cards. I lost a few of my early G1 ones but I've kept everything since... but I don't exactly know why. Habit I guess. The G3-4 ones are all squashed down and mostly in the larger playset boxes. They are far from organised! I've taken off the plastic and recycled that and kept any of the stickers with the accessories. I'm a very slight hoarder...

I used to keep the G3 backcards, but I've lost them over the years, unfortunately.

I recently deboxed a G3 Minty as carefully as possible, and kept the whole box.

If I ever came across any G1/G2 backcards/boxes, I'd hang onto them because they have nice art and pictures on them. I'd keep the G3 packaging for the same reason. I don't feel the same about G4 though, the boxes don't seem that special to me.

Basically I'd keep any packaging that looks pretty. (I have stacks of Monster High boxes in my closet for the very same reason )

I've got a fair few G3 boxes lying around, but as for G4s (or any G3s on card) I save the card and get rid of the plastic bubble.

I have a stack of G3 cards that I had okay eBay for a bin of 1.00 and they never sold. I relisted it 4 times too!

I would save the G2 backcards (if I found or bought one), because I like how they look and they are a nice addition to my loose ones which I don't have MOC (yet I hope).

Yeah, this was my issue too. I had big ol' boxes of G3 backcards, mostly because I wanted to keep a record of all of the pretty stories and art they came with ... and I realized, I don't have the space, and with the backcards being stored and scanned online, I don't NEED to save every box. So now I just save the 'special' ones (like the pony project boxes, the exclusives, rare ponies or ones that have sentimental value), clip out any box art I can't live without, and chuck the rest. For G4, I chuck almost everything, but sometimes I clip out the box art because I think it's pretty and I figure I can make something out of it. A bookmark or button maybe!
