Build a Bear Pony hair
« on: March 23, 2015, 03:06:28 PM »
Hi,

Is there a certain way the mane is supposed to lay on the Build a Bear Ponies? I just got Princess Twilight Sparkle on Friday and I noticed that when I put her mane the way I thought it would go (the direction the hair seemed to want to go) it looks kind of funny. I have the mane going towards her display side but the dark purple is overlapping the other colors in her mane so much that I can only see part of the other colors.

It probably has to do with how the hair weft was sewn in when they put her head together.  It's made to go either way but if the weft was bunched up or spaced out wrong in the seam it may not lay correctly.

Temperamental is putting it mildly. :P As Skeen says manufacture has a lot to answer for - with mine I just go with what the hair wishes to do in position - much easier than trying to force it :)

Yeah, I'm like Cat - I just let it do what it wants / whichever side it wants to lay on. Easier than fighting with it, and they just sit on the shelf.

Thanks Kiwi.  :) Since this my first Build a Bear Pony I wasn't sure if there was a right/wrong way to put the hair.

I also have Build-A-Bear Princess Twilight Sparkle. I wonder if the Build-A-Bear pony hair would respond well to taming with water/setting it to dry? Has anyone tried this?

My BAB Applebloom's forelock refuses to lay flat. Trying to tame it with water helped a little, but not really. I ended up weighing it down with a well hidden bobby pin.
Will make custom plushie for MIB Fashion Style Applejack. PM for details!
