Ponies in Vietnam?
« on: July 11, 2015, 04:10:35 PM »
Hello!

My husband and I are taking his parents to Vietnam in August... any chance I could find ponies there or crash a pony meet!?

Looks like there are G4s-- https://vi-vn.facebook.com/mylittleponyvietnam.vn

G1s, probably not (best educated guess from someone I know).

The vietnamese dub is kind of awful. :/

;) stay cool, I hear it's miserable in August and drink bottled water!

No ponies that I know of, but I woulden't doupt at some point in time that
G1 was sold there.

Use bug spray!

Tea tree seems to work best against ticks, chiggers, and deer flies, while citronella, lemon, and eucalyptus are the best for fending off mosquitos and black flies.

What you’ll need:

Spray bottle (8oz or 10oz sizes work best)
Water
Witch hazel
Vegetable glycerin
Lemon, citronella, tea tree, rosemary, or eucalyptus essential oil
Create a 20:80 mix of water and witch hazel, add a teaspoon of vegetable glycerin, and 30 drops of essential oil. Hose yourself down with this stuff if you’re in an insect-heavy area, and re-apply when the scent starts to fade. Feel free to do a blend of lemon and eucalyptus, or tea tree with rosemary; if you have a negative skin reaction, or if you really don’t like the smell, discontinue use.

Be safe! :)

Well if the factory was in Hongkong and or somewhere in China then they would be sold near that area most likely, and things can traval like I have found UK mlp in the USA. Plus china is pretty known for selling extreamly close nock off merch too, you you may find pony merch if not ponies them selves.

Lots of bootleg in asia

There was a trade embargo until 1994 with the USA... and Vietnam was pretty strict with communism back then, and extremely poor. All of those things make it really not likely.

Anyway-- to make this back on track, if you are in the stores looking at pony stuff-- can you let me know if there you see a DVD of the viet dub?

LOL, why would you want one if you say the dub there is so terrible?

Because I would like to listen to it with my kid? I understand and know ponies and the stories.

Of course I will look for a dubbed DVD... :)

Everypony else, let me know if you want anything specific (pony or non-pony). We're part of a tour group this time, not footloose and fancy free when it was just me and my husband making up our way through Europe... but I understand they'll give us a lot of shopping time.  ;)

I agree that I doubt you will find G1 unfortunately. But you could stumble upon some cool G4 merch for sure!

Well if the factory was in Hongkong and or somewhere in China then they would be sold near that area most likely, and things can traval like I have found UK mlp in the USA. G1 was not even sold in China...in fact until G4, MLP was pretty much non existant.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

I hope you have fun in Vietnam! I don't know about there, but some G1 were sold in Thailand and Malaysia back in the day, so might be worth keeping an eye out.  :)
