Aw, they look so sweet! I'd love to take them in, but as I already have several cats and a large dog it probably wouldn't be a good idea. XD

Has your friend considered posting on Craigslist looking for a rescue to take them? I've had good luck doing that in the past; we had a kitten dropped off in front of our house last year, and we took him in. He didn't work out for us because our other cat didn't get along with him, but we posted his story on Craigslist and a rescue came and got him the next day.

Yeah- I told her about Craigslist-  but she is afraid of the crazies who would respond. Also I read some pretty scary things about people on craigslist looking for "free" pets.  Needless to say, the animals would not be getting a good home and you should NEVER put free animals on craigslist.

Very very true. ^_^ What we did with the kitten was put that ideally we'd like a rescue to take him, as he had frostbite on his paws and needed treatment, but that if a non-rescue wanted to take him, there would be an adoption fee.

What about Googling rescues in her area and then contacting them?

All of the rescues, and no-kill shelters anywhere close to the area are completely full.  Unfortunately, I think that there are a lot of irresponsible people who don't fix their pets in and around Camden. It's a pretty rough area...

Yep, unfortunately that's a very common problem. No-kill shelters everywhere are frequently at capacity. I've worked in one for the last 3-and-a-half years. It sucks because we have to turn people away all the time, but unless we began euthanizing healthy animals there's no alternative. I wish you the best in finding them a good home, and you're right about Craigslist usually being a bad idea.

I hope you find homes for them!  I understand completely how hard it is to find homes for adult cats.  That's part of why I have so many - no one wants older or broken/damaged/ill cats.

They're both so very cute. Do you have Facebook? Maybe try posting there... Unfortunately my husband has decided that we will have a no kitty household. (Besides, the dog thinks he's cat most of the time anyway.... heh heh)

I posted on facebook- and my wife did too-  I am bugging her to reach out directly to some of her east coast friends (she's from NJ) who might not have seen the post...

But yeah, it's difficult to find homes for adult cats, especially since we're all looking for a home for the both of them. It would be really sad to separate them, and I don't know that Nugget would be very adoptable on her own...

I wish I could help, but I have two cats of my own . . . Petfinder used to allow individuals to do adoption listings, do they still do that?

I looked- and it appears that you have to be a shelter or a rescue organization.  But thanks for the suggestion ;)

You may want to see if a local shelter/rescue group would be willing to do a courtesy posting for you on their Petfinder page (and other social media platforms). Have seen it done before.

Example:

https://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/30830003/

Hope they find a good home together!

Thanks! I'll try that- I didn't see anything on the site but must have missed something...
