Bank account hacked, UGH

I got a message this morning from my bank's fraud protection service saying that someone had accessed my account through my online login information and had tried to drain it.  They had stopped the transaction and locked the account, and needed me to come in to a branch and open a new one. 

That's all well and good but they wouldn't give me access to my online account for 2 days, until I had enough time to run anti-virus software to detect and remove whatever keylogger had grabbed my details (as if I don't run sweeps daily?), and I have things I need to pay for via Paypal!  My PP uses my debit card and is linked to my closed account.  I don't tend to keep a balance in PP since the funding is instant with the linked card.  Until I can log in to my bank, I can't update my PP to pull funds from the new account (to add the account, I need to be able to log in to the bank through PP) unless I enter the info manually, which will still take several days to verify. 

I know for certain I owe payment on an ebay auction I won and I notified the seller of what happened, but I fear that since this is a really common excuse not to pay, she won't believe me.    Does anyone know if the seller "persepholle" is here?  I have every intention of paying, I just can't access my money!    If anyone else is waiting on payment from me (and I don' think anyone is) please PM me! 

This is just a big mess.  Everything will be fine, it's just not fine NOW, which means I can't take care of any of the normal transactions I would be doing.  I have several other auto-debit payments that come out via PP each month too!


I suppose what I could do is ask Aadra if she'd PP me enough to cover that sale and then send her a payment when I have access to my bank account again...

so sorry to hear this! I had someone steal my identity five years ago and I'm still suffering from the after effects. Do you have a friend that can add a gift address and pay, then pay them back when it is all sorted out?

You can pay for auctions using someone else's paypal. Could you use your husband's?

Skeen I am so sorry you were a victim of some butthead hacker. Thank god your bank caught it before more damage could be done.
