January sales - retail therapy for post-holiday blues?

In the UK we have January sales.  Do they happen in your country?  I'm not feeling so great this week but I found some running shoes for £50 on the way home from the chemist's today so I'm feeling happier! Retail therapy cannot be underrated.  I also finally found a black leather satchel for work and I saved myself a lot of money by waiting for the sale, so it's it's even sweeter!  Anyone else get any January bargains?

I remember we used to have January sales (shops used to cut prices on stuff they overstocked for Christmas), but it seems they don't exist anymore, or at least not in that huge amount... I usually wait for January for possible good sales because of this, but recently I haven't really seen any January sales, nor did I luck out on any.
though I did get two pairs of trousers today for about 70% off, about which I am very happy (it is very difficult for me to find fitting trousers), but that's because the shop where I got them closes on the 20th of January and tries to sell off their remaining stock.

The sales aren't generally very good here either this year but some smaller independent companies are offering good discounts. Congrats on your trousers!  It's so great to have clothes that you feel confident wearing

Not really..I mean there are some sales but nothing as big as black Friday (which we have now adopted from the US) and boxing day.

Then again, I haven't been to the mall in awhile.  Might ask mom since she works at one

I can't think of any good January sales. Our good ones are all before Christmas.

We had Black Friday here too, I think it's a fairly new thing adopted from the USA. It was in the news because people were behaving badly to get the bargains!

I haven't found much in the sales around Manchester, probably because I've mostly been searching round music shops and that but I did manage to find Warm Bodies on DVD for £3, which was an awesome result!

Personally, I'm always super happy when the holidays are over! No, our store doesn't do much to promote sales in January. I did pick up a couple of clearance priced shirts, though. Also, I needed a new large diaper bag, but I didn't want to pay $40 for one at the store, so I bought one from Amazon. Retail price is $50; I paid $20. Just hope it's big enough when it gets here. And I do believe in retail therapy, too. Congrats on your finds!

There are a lot of things on clearance, mostly Christmas items that are marked down considerably.  As someone who absolutely loves Christmas and random Christmas themed decorations and knick-knacks, these sales appeal to me quite a bit. 

But yeah, for the most part, the sales are "we need to get rid of this holiday stuff to make room for Valentine's Day crap". 

Regardless, I love shopping after Christmas. I'm not too big on Black Friday in November unless there's an absolutely amazing deal (for instance, we got a PS3 in 2013 with 2 games for a decent price, and last year we got a Wii U with 4 games for a really good price), but I enjoy the small sales and browsing the clearance aisles in January.

This!  At VB we're having a massive 50% off sale of bag styles and patterns that we're retiring to make room for new things coming in.  To be fair we have two giant sales like this, one in the summer and one after Christmas.  Honestly I already bought half my 2015 Christmas gifts via sales in other stores.  Granted all I did was buy a bunch of candles that I also already wrapped. I won't have the foggiest idea who's getting what, it'll be great! P:

That's great! I would love a new bed, since I spend 1/3 f my life in it
