Bubble Yellowing
« on: November 08, 2014, 01:12:34 PM »
I won a MOC Glory for $100- her bubble is really clear, only slightly yellowed. It seems the early release ponies are prone to bubble yellowing, but has anyone figured out why? Is it sunlight? Chemicals? I want to display her, but am afraid of the bubble yellowing.

I think it's just natural chemical breakdown. :(

They are the oldest releases after all so I would think initially its simply that they are older and therefore have had longer to be exposed to the elements. However its also worth remembering that technology in manufacturing moves forward at quite terrifying speeds sometimes. So it is probably also an improvement in manufacture between the initial plastic packaging and the later plastic packaging; additional and newer techniques would have made the product better and less reactive to oxygen, UV and other conditions.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
