Craigslist shipped lot
« on: September 29, 2014, 04:57:06 PM »
So I'm really disappointed, I bought a lot off cragigslist and had the seller shipped me the items.  She seemed really nice quick to respond and she sent me pictures of the items she was sending.  The lot was for a bunch of pet shops I paid quite a bit so I don't really understand why  they decided to leave out aprox half the pets.  I'll never buy a lot again like this without seeing it in person.  She even said she'd include a bunch of other play sets, poster etc stuff till the box was full.  Well nothing else was included besides a broken tiny playset she completely lied to me as there was so much room in the box (and a weird broken fake plant piece...)....  I sent two payments one for the lot and one when she had a shipping quote.  I have no idea what paypal will do, I decided not to contact her through email as she's already proven herself to be less than trust worthy and filled a claim explaining what was missing.  I only filled on the one payment and not the shipping payment (can you open two disputes on the same person??)

I'm so full of regret right now and I needed to vent.

wait, shouldn't you have contacted her first? It could be some weird misunderstanding or it could be exactly what you think. It just seems like contact and an attempt to make things right should be the first step?

I do agree partially I'm more than willing to still work things out but I wanted our conversation documented through paypal so it not he said she said.  I admit I could be in the wrong opening up a dispute but it seems really fishy to me.

I see your point on opening a dispute, although I most likely would have contacted your seller directly first, just as a good faith gesture. Anyways seeing as this is a craigslist purchase things are a bit different than if you purchased from eBay or here. So opening a dispute was most likely a good call to get communications rolling and documented. As craigslist it self states on their page to never buy anything sight-unseen. If you haven't seen what you're buying, there's a good chance it might not actually exist. Well unless it's a weird piece of fake broken plant, it obviously exists  :)

As far as what Paypal will do, you have 20 days after opening the dispute to escalate it to a claim. During the Claim process, PayPal may require you to provide documentation to support your position.  You may be asked to provide receipts, third party evaluations, police reports, or anything else that PayPal specifies or relates to the transaction. Please be aware though they may require you to ship the item back to the seller at your expense, and to provide proof of delivery.  I am not saying this will happen but it could, it all depends on how your seller is going to handle it and how Paypal views the dispute.

I do hope though you are able to get this resolved quickly. Please keep us posted, as I myself am curious how Paypal will handle it.

Thanks for the giggle, and I'll make sure to keep everyone updated. I've been trying to give her some time to get back to me.

I'm glad I went through paypal because she has admitted to not sending me items.  She said it was my fault for not asking "specially what you wanted ".  I asked for all of the pets pictured she even sent me an updated picture of what was left before we agreed to the transaction.  I also apparently pressured her into doing this etc.  She sees nothing wrong with what she did so I'm sure it's going to be in paypals hands soon.

Just in case anyone was wondering what happened the case is finally finished.  I paid in two payments one for the lot one for shipping (still working on getting my original shipping back).  We were not able to come up with a solution and they wouldn't agree to a partial refund.  I was asked to ship the item back, by paypal and then I would receive a full refund.  I did send it back and got a full refund on the first payment.  I have another one open on shipping as I've now paid for shipping twice, and Paypal ruled in the first case I'd get my original shipping back.
