« on: October 19, 2014, 10:58:15 AM »
Hello guys after spending lots of time here on the doll threads I have become obsessed with the Disney limited edition dolls  However I know nothing about them and have a few questions
Do they come out yearly?
how many do they normally release?
when can you find out what will be released and when?
Plus id love to see pics of every ones dolls and what years they came out xxx

Hi there! Im also new to the LE dolls myself! Tinkerbell and Zarina were my first ones, then the LE Aurora! I first got their attention when I saw the LE 17' Ariel last year- didnt get one though... Tomorrow I am trying my luck at Briar/ Phillip! I wish I could have gotten LE Ariel, DFDC Ariel, DFDC Belle/Beast, DFDC Punzie/Flynn, and the Designer Carpet Ariel. I tried to get the Frozen ones, but tried only online (I failed) as my DS was under remodeling for 6 months! Im also interesting in collecting them! Heres what I know about them:
Spoiler

There are the 11' LE Designer dolls and the 17" LE dolls.

1. They do release dolls like these every year, characters depending on what movies or specials are coming out.  Usually when theres a new movie released in theaters, or a remaster release on Bluray then thats a great time to predict a doll being released. For example, since Aladdin was announced for Blueray next year, we can expect to see Jasmine, Aladdin, maybe even Jaffar and Genie 17" dolls! Theres no true way to predict the designer dolls that I know of, unless they release an incomplete set then maybe there could be a wave 2 example being the DFDC dolls but this doesnt always happen.

-17" dolls are usually released near their Blueray release or premiere dates. They usually have preorders a few months in advance online but sell out in minutes, occasionally breaking the server but preorders are also available in store!Get there early. They are first-come-first-serve at participating Disney Stores so you need to get there around 8am so the Cast Members (employees) can give you a card with a number for what person you are in line to buy them at 10am. They are usually $127ish. They go on sale online that following night at 12am PT, sell out in minutes.

-The designer dolls are about 11" and come in cool display cases. Ive never seen a preorder for one. Im not sure how it worked with other dolls in the past but with Tinkerbell and Zarina I bought straight online the night of the Pirate Fairy release and got my dolls within a week. The DFDC dolls in the store you buy through a raffle, if they choose you to buy a doll. They start filling people in at noon and choose winners at 1:10pm. the dolls are typically between $50-$127ish dollars each, depends on what doll it is.

2. Some of the first dolls were Snow White, Alice, and the Queen of Hearts and were limited to 500 pieces worldwide! O_o I think they realized this was an issue so they made the Villians and were limited to like... 13,000 pieces and had surplus. Most LE dolls nowadays, both designer and 17", go somewhere around 4,000-6,000 pieces worldwide, but I know the 2013 DFDC Snow White with the White Dress had only 500 pieces. Most Disney Stores that will carry them will typically have between 5-15 dolls per store.

3/4. There is this AMAZING facebook website I am always on! They announce any leaked information, rumors, news, relaease dates, preorder dates, preview pictures, even links to the dolls when they go live in the DS website!
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Disney-Limited-Edition-Dolls/224502607640220

The official Disney Store news bog, The Buzz, will post news also.

Once the Pre-Orders and Releases are sold out- thats it except for second-hand on evilbay! I suggest to always try in-store FIRST so you can always try your luck online and get two chances to grab an LE doll. Its soooo worth it because I have gotten my LE blue Gown Aurora in-store and didnt have to stress out about staying up online at 2am for the dolls to be released. Online stinks because they sell out fast and the website usually gets sooooo slow when so many other people across your country are on the website trying to buy them before they are sold out. 2 chances are better than 1!

Hope this helps! Briar Rose/Phillip dolls will be releases in stores TOMORROW via a raffle at select Disney Stores near you! You go around noon your time and ask to be part of the raffle to buy the doll, then at 1:00pm your time they pull out the winners to buy the dolls! They are limited to 4,000 pieces worldwide and will come out to be $127ish dollars plus a cool bag! If you dont win, you can try a shot online when they list the rest of them at 12am Pacific time. This is the LAST of the Disney Fairytale Designer Couples- potentially the last of the LE dolls this year.  Hope this helps, ENJOY!

You are super lucky to go back to Disney! Unfortunatly though, none of the LE dolls are available for sale at Disney parks and theres none to be released in December. These are sold in Disney Stores or DisneyStore website only and sell out in minutes. You can however, spot the Disney Parks exclusive Classic dolls! The wedding Ariel doll and archer Merida are really awesome and are about $20 each! If you'd like to see LE dolls in person head up to your local Disney Store asap- they have the second wave of DFDC Designers for display only until the end of the week!
