I'm afraid I favor the term Alicorn, but I respect those who have different opinions.

The reasons I prefer Alicorn to Pegacorn are as follows;

1. In my headcanon (yes, this is a headcanon thing) Alicorns are supposed to contain attributes from all three main pony types.  Calling the "Pegacorns" leaves out the Earth Pony side to them, and there isn't really a way to include them either in my mind.

2. Despite the above, they are still meant to be ponies of their own in my mind, so giving them their own name fits better for me.

3. This isn't a very good reason (if any of them are), but it was what I heard first, so I got used to calling them that.

4. I've always thought Pegacorn sounds like a type of food to me; like a kind of candy corn that has to have a unique name because it's owned by a company or whatever.  Silly I know.

I do know that it tends to mean either a unicorn's horn or what you could make from the horn if they existed, or (I think) the magic from the horn in other places, and that may be more well known, but apparrently it has been used before FIM happened (at least one comment on Lauren's DA journal reffered to Celestia as an alicorn before Celestia's name was even mentioned).

But that's just my opinion, and there is a chance (based on "Hearth's Warming Eve") that they were viewed as "a different kind of unicorn", and I think there may be other hints to that too.

I second this. Just referring to them as weird unicorns or hybrids doesn't fit with my personal theory/head canon that they're completely their own species with a unique magic of their own.

But unipeg is pretty cute.

Pegacorn sounds goofy-

I like winged unicorn, but mostly because I was obsessed with Whisper the Winged Unicorn.  I'm fine with Alicorn I guess, but it's not very pretty.

I still have my old Whisper the Winged Unicorn book!

Besides I was under the assumption that an Alicorn was a unicorn-horned humanoid creature which interestingly enough is a real and very rare condition. Thanks Mutter's Museum of Medical Oddities

Winged Unicorn,  because Alicorn is the name for the Unicorn's horn. And I also remember Whisper the Winged Unicorn, it's probably where I got the name from back in the day because since I was a kid I've always known them as Winged Unicorn.

Plus I play the pony island online game and they are winged unicorn there as well so I have multiple reasons to call them Winged Unicorn.

I used to call them unipegs and pegacorns since I didn't know any real name for them. When Fim used alicorn I felt like it was a gift from heaven.

I like winged unicorn, also because of Whisper the Winged Unicorn!  Those books were so cute.

But of the "single word" names, I like alicorn the best.  Pegacorn sounds goofy and unipeg is kind of ehhhh.

When i heard FIM use "Alicorn" i said "what in the world is that?!?!"
I always called them winged unicorns. not sure why it was never a horned pegasus.

I like alicorn - pegacorn sounds too awkward, and winged unicorn seems too long. xP

Before FiM though, I always thought of winged unicorns as just another kind of unicorn - nothing fancy or anything.

I know I had Whisper The Winged Unicorn books as a girl but I called them unicorn pegasus (es?). I am fairly sure my little sister, next door neighbor and I had a Unicorn Pegasus club but unlike our Rainbow Waterfall club we didn't make membership cards (they had scratch and sniff bubblegum machine stickers on them!) so I have no proof of this belief.
If wishes were horses, they'd be My Little Ponies.
