Otakon! Anyone going?

Otakon is this weekend, and I'm curious if anyone here is going. I know I've met one pony-person I recognized from here in previous years!

I'm going again, but I'll be staffing the lost and found, so I won't be around the convention much. But I will be cosplaying Utena on my breaks Friday and Sunday, and Dream Gazer from MoonDreamers on Saturday.

I'm going!  I'm so excited, I have not gone since 2003    and I'll be going with a friend I don't get to see often, so it is a super special trip for me.

Wow, I'd love to see your Utena cosplay, I'll have to keep my eyes out on Sunday   Do you get to wear it while you work lost and found?  That would be awesome!   
I'll be cosplaying Nausicaa (from the Miyazaki movie of same name) on Sat and maaaybe on Sunday.

Wow, I'd love to see your Utena cosplay, I'll have to keep my eyes out on Sunday   Do you get to wear it while you work lost and found?  That would be awesome!   

Thanks, although we're only allowed to cosplay while on duty one day, so I chose Sat since that's the harder costume for me to change in and out of.

I'll try to be at an Utena photoshoot Friday at 7 on the terrace I think. It's in the schedule actually (this is the first year they're trying scheduled times for photoshoots). My costume's not great: just her school uniform jacket and long red pants instead of the shorts because I get cold in the AC all day. Sunday I don't really have many breaks, so it unlikely you'll see me, except maybe while I'm heading to get lunch.

I think it sounds like a great cosplay I've only cosplayed once as Fluttershy and it ended up pretty bad I'm interested in seeing how well having the photoshoots on the schedule works out. And yes, I've been a congoer for the past four years I've gone to Katsucon (my favorite so I go every year), Anime USA, Animazement, and last year I was lucky enough to be in California in time to get to go to Anime Expo for a day.

Oh, Animazement! That was my first convention back in 2002, and I went almost every year until I moved up here. But that was back when they were in their original location. I know they've since moved and gotten much bigger.

I went to Animazement twice.  First year was completely underwhelming with not many inerestng panels and the majority of the congoers spent their time outside in front of the building. Second year was even worse and my friends and I left then con early in favor of hanging out at our hotel room. I really am excited for Otakon though. For the past four years, there's always been something preventing me from going, but not this year!

Yeah, back in my day we didn't even have "photoshoots" whatever they are...we also had to walk uphill both to and from the convention center    j/k!

I definitely hear you about the AC!  I considered doing San from Princess Mononoke but I figured I'd freeze in that little dress.  I won't be there on Friday probably (I have to work on friday, boo!), alas!

Aw, Sprinkles, that's disappointing to hear. Hopefully you'll have a better time here! Just be prepared for potentially lining up early for really popular panels and workshops and check the schedule periodically for updates since things sometimes get moved around last minute.

SunPony, if you ever decide to cosplay San in the future, maybe you could find tights/leggings that are close to your skin tone to wear under the dress? For my Dream Gazer costume, which technically also has a short dress (I modified it though to a long sweater and shorts), I'm actually doing thin colored tights over leggings because I know the tights by themselves wouldn't be enough for me.

I'm going. Can't wait I haven't been in years. I'm not cosplaying but I will be takeing pictures. The Con never fails to surprise with costumes.

Took three hours to get to the convention center because we were stuck in traffic outside of Baltimore for an hour and a half. Now we're stuck in line D: hopefully you guys already got your badges.
