Where to find ponies in Budapest?
« on: July 25, 2014, 03:35:35 AM »
Any Hungarian ponies around?
Or anyone been to Budapest?

I'll be spending a week there in August and as always when I go someplace new, I NEED to know where to look for ponies ;) Both new and old ones. So any advice on toy stores, big or small, thrift/charity shops, flea markets or anything else would be greatly appreciated!

I read there's a big flea market every weekend where you can find lots of stuff, but do they sell toys as well?

I've never been to Hungary, but since they also have Müller stores, you should be able to find them in the toy section there :)

If you like hilarious fakies, then visit the market in the park opposite the zoo.
Hungary is quite good for ponies actually, but I've never found G1 ones. There is also quite a bit of merchandise around and they get the monthly magazine

Thank you June, I'll keep an eye for the Muller stores!

Sebby, I don't like fakies, no :p Do you mean the main flea market? Do you only find fakies there, no real MLP? :(
Why do you say Hungary is good for ponies? Like the newest ones in the stores?

No it's not a fleamarket - more like a Chinese market with cheap knock-offs. I've seen Princess Rinse n Spit there and G3 bootlegs with funny translations on the box.

I think they have a good selection of new stuff over there - better than UK at least

Ooh this shop has some pretty things! I'd love one of those mugs  :) But the prices, hmm, a bit expensive for Hungary I think.
I noticed the same thing in both Poland and Czech Republic: while everything else (food, tickets etc.) was cheaper, MLP and other toys were as or even more expensive than here!

Anyhow, I'll definitely be on the lookout for new stuff; we don't get that much of it here.

Thanx Sebby!

I don't know about the rest of Hungary, but Budapest is definitely not cheap. And you are so right about Czech. Even £ for £, ponies are more expensive, but when you then take into account what a monthly wage is over there, that makes them downright extortionate.
