Poor Daddy Appe Delight:(
« on: September 18, 2014, 11:13:10 AM »
I got a Daddy Apple from a lot ponies and he had on the pink saddle and bridle that was put on by his previous owner. I took it off and he has the pink highlighter rubs (saddle sores) all on his back, his face and underneath him. Is there any way to sun fade him? Any success from others in removing the saddle sore? I have read about the damage that can be done by leaving shoes and other accessories on ponies, especially white ones, but this is the first time I encountered it in person. Here are some before and after pics:

Ouch! That hurts! I know great method of cleaning it (quicker than sun fading) but Idk how is it called in your country :(

It's a gel called in my country "benzacne" and for 1g of gel it contents 100mg benzoyl peroxide, carbomer, sodium hydroxide and purified water :) and it's great! those marks should vanished in few days :)

Clearasil is one brand of benzoyl peroxide gel or cream I can think of. I would love to know if this works!

you just need to put a little of gel at the 'dirty' parts, put the pony in sunny place (or not - if it's not in the sunny place fading takes a little bit longer)

I have seen where you gotta watch out for that zit stuff though over time it continues to bleach the pony and you will have white spots. Not bad on a white pony but can cause issues on a colored pony. There was a page on it somewhere, they bought a seapony with shell on ebay and the seller didn't mention that they had used zit cream to clean a  spot on the stomach. a little while after the color leached out of that spot leaving a wonderfully seapony with its shell a giant white spot on the center of her stomach. I wish I would find that post but I do remember seeing it. I think the seapony was blue or green.....

I've used clearsil before and had great results, but I've been warned that it only works in short term. Over time it can be corrosive and yellowing to the plastic.
Just a heads up. Not saying you shouldn't do it, as it's definitely a lot faster and imo more efficient than sunfading, but you might want to keep that in mind.

Please dont use things like clearasil or benzocane. I know ponies belong to one person and you can do whatever you wish with them...but for your own sake you will cause much more long term damage with these items than you will ever cure. :( I normally go with the do as you wish vibe on collecting but it worries me how common this practice is...mainly as I know there will be future upset over the results.

As for Daddy Apple Delight - stains as deep in the plastic as this can be a nightmare but sunfading should fade them over time and patience :) I would not do anything different than normal when sunfading.

If this is at all helpful:

http://mlppreservationproject.com/body.html#StainRemoval

It's information I've gathered from other collectors.  I don't use the Clearasil and such creams myself, since they worry me.  I tested it once and it really didn't do anything, but I was so worried about it that I was probably taking it off too soon.

The main problem with the product is that it can take months or longer for anything to show. So it may and probably will work right at this moment. But over time it will breach the plastic.

Oh, his hair is so gorgeous! I would try sunfading as well. I hope it works out  for you. He's such a great looking pony. (And I agree, very cute in the saddle)
