Real earrings on customs?

I have a G4 custom in mind, and I have a actual earring that I was thinking of using in it. However, I'm not sure if this is a good idea. Does anyone know if using metal on them like this would be a problem? I know people have used pins to hold fancy hairstyles in place, so it seems like an earring stud should be fine too, but I don't know.

I have a couple of SHS that have real earrings.  Nickel free as that's all I have.

I suppose the big question is at what phase you are going to add it.  Putting metal into the pony before baking may cause discoloration or warping if the metal gets too hot.  Otherwise I've used metal pieces on and in ponies with no issues.

Oh, this would definitely be at the end; no baking.

I suppose one potentially big concern is that I don't know what exactly the post is made out of. It's an older earring and the actual decorative part is some kind of plastic, so I'm assuming the metal is something cheap-y.

I have used metal studs as hair decor before and they seem to do fine. Just be cautious on lighter color hair and metals that may rust
