Basic (dumb!) shipping question
« on: June 21, 2014, 05:00:29 PM »
Ok, I don't know how one person can be so befuddled by shipping, but yet here I am lol

Well, I usually ship things that are about 9-10 ounces and I can usually estimate basic USPS first class shipping costs pretty well.

I now have a package that is 15.5 ounces and when I go to the post office website to try to estimate the shipping cost, it doesn't show first class - just priority options.  Am I correct in estimating the shipping costs for a 15.5 ounce package is around $6 priority???  I also put in a pound...and then 14.5 ounces and I think it was still showing $6 for 2 day priority??  Am I doing this right?  Does that even sound accurate?

Also---is tracking included if this is the option I have to take - or is tracking an add-on?

Sorry for the very basic questions.  I'm usually the buyer instead of the seller lol. ;)

I've found with the online calculator I sometimes have to scroll down near the bottom of the page and expand a tab open to get the first class price. First class you have to add tracking it's a $1.10 I think. Priority comes with tracking included I think :)

You can't ship a 16 oz package first class, since that option is only for packages up to 13 oz. You can do priority or parcel post.

So does $6 for about a pound sound right for two day priority?  I always thought priority was more than that, but maybe it's because I've just never mailed a package that was heavier than 10 ounces so I've never had to find out!  LoL

Thanks, you guys, for your help :)

Sounds about right. It depends on location as well.
