School House Playset bought
« on: June 01, 2014, 03:18:06 AM »
Hi everyone! I bought yesterday the School House Playset (G1), I'm not very interested in playsets mainly because I can't display them but I saw this and I thought it was beautiful, so I got a random outburst of happiness and bought it! :freak:
I thought it was cheap and now I was wondering if it can be considered a bargain or not. It comes in its box, it hasn't been opened and  I've paid 30E, ($40).
So, what do you think? Did I pay too much? Is that ok for this playset and its condition? :what:
Thanks for your help!

I think you got a very good deal, considering it was still in its box (so I would presume it has all its parts and accessories). :) That's such a cute playset!

Although its an adorable set it does not tend to sell too high and it pops up MIB reasonably often. However for a MIB playset I think thats an amazong price! I would expect on a good day to have to pay at least $80-100 for it MIB.

I'd dispute that actually as the last one I tried for loose with most accessories went for £30-40. It depends if the person bidding really, really wants the set! I'm lucky to have gotten my sun-faded, slightly broken set for £10.

So yes, you did get a very good bargain there, and it's an adorable set!

Thanks to you all for your answers, it's quite difficult to know if something is a good deal or not. I think it also depends on the person who sells: if he/she thinks it is a famous toy or for collectors as it happens, for instance, with Barbie. It doesn't matter the condition, she's going to be expensive anyway.

As Dusky says, it also depends on who is looking at the time :) I have seen a $10 pony go for $60 and then a couple of days later it sell for less than $10. :) At the end of the day G1 is not going to have a recommended retail price; it has to be what people think its worth, what the market will average and just a good old estimate.

As to the set loose and complete; I would see it not far off a MIB price. Thats often the case with certain playsets where you dont get anything to display except for a box or where tracking down all the items individually is hard and expensive.
