Hm... I think the person who was my ONE teacher was Frau Gehrke-Oelkers. She was my teacher at the school for "healing education" (I dont know the exact english word, this is was the translater gave me. I learned to work with people (mostly kids) with psychic and / or physic disabilities there. She herself had (I guess she still has lol) an autistic son. He was 16 years old back then and she sometimes brought him to class. She was my absolute bright example when it came to handling disabilities. I remember, one day, her son sat there, doing nothing but ripping the petals from the flowers that where standing on the teachers desk. She watched him for a while and then said : "Sonny, those are autistic flowers. They dont like being touched." He just said ok and let them be, no remorse, no discusiion, no nothing. That easy. I was shocked and kinda confused but she said "Why discuss something he will never understand when life can be that easy? Keep that in mind." ... and I did. Frau Gehrke-Oelkers also was one of my examiners at my first years examination. I passed with a straight A which was rarely given by her. Just because I had worked so hard since I wanted to be like her. She was magic to me, everything seemed soo light when she did it.

And then there was Frau Böder. She was my history tracher in 8th grade and I adored her. She was a tiny woman with a very soft and gentle voice. I loved history, not only because of her but I enjoyed it even more when she was doing the lessons.

Oh, haha, and Frau Kirk. Yeah, Captn Kirk was great!! She was so funny had a great sense of humor and she was kind of a geek. I always felt happy when she was around. She was my teacher in German Literature which was one of my ever favourite subject ever.

Not to forget, Mr. Sword. He was a genuine scotsman and the only person we were calling Mr. (Germany, of course our teachers all where called "Frau" oder "Herr"). Mr. Sword was funny. He was my english teacher and he never ever talked in german during our lessons. When we had a question he answered in english rhymes or sang a song that practically answered it. I loved him. He later died of cancer sadly.

And last but not least... a teacher I did not love that much ... in fact I more hated him lol.  But I will ever keep him in mind. He was my math teacher. When he first entered our class, he sat down, looked at us with a very strict face and said "Mein Name ist Herr Helmchen und das ist nicht lustig!" -> "My Name is Herr Helmchen and thats not funny!"... you wanna know what indeed WAS funny? Well, "Lord Helmchen" is the german name of Dark Helmet (Spaceballs)... you can imagine that we burst into laughter! Ill never forget him! We always called him Lord Helmchen of course and he really hated it!! Sometimes the fun-name would slip out when you asked him a question and then he would give you extra-homework. Yeah, he didnt have any humor XD

Another teacher who indeed had a good humor was my german-teacher in 5th grade. Her name was Frau Krüger-Ochmann and when she first entered class she said "Yeah, you may call me Frau K.O. , I know the older kids do and I dont mind. my name is long, so just do it, thats alright." haha... so... Frau k.O. ... and she really never did mind it at all.

Well... all in all I had a lot of amazing teachers. And a lot of mean ones, too.

Btw, my daughter, who is in 4th grade atm, also has a teacher we all will never forget. Its her current class-teacher, Frau Raum. She is her teacher for math, natural science, art and sports. You may know, my daughter is suffering from ADD. She is a strong-willed person, very active, very loud, very ... well, lets say she isnt easy to handle. her former teacher just gave up on her. But this teacher, Frau Raum, gave all she had to get this girl back to being a good girl at school. She made new rules for the whole class to include my daughter better. She fought with the principal to make sure that my girl will not be punished for things she cant do better. She even accompanied me when I was visiting a special meeting at a kids-help-center in her free-time, just to be there for me and give me some strength. This woman is just amazing. The world needs teachers like her!And I know we all will cry when we will have to say goodbye; my daughter will be going to another school after 4th grade (as usual in Germany).

I've had a lot of good teachers but my favourite was probably my Year 10&11 history teacher Mrs Pearce. She was so engaging and entertaining and it made history one of my favourite subjects. Me and my best friend were really sad to leave her!

I guess I'm going to be a stand out and say... No, I didn't ever have a ground breaking professor.  At least, not one who I felt changed my life or my career path in any sort of way.  I had plenty who were kind, but I usually admired my teachers who were very knowledgeable on their subject.

As a side note, it sounds like a lot of you like history?     Just to let you know.. I started listening to a podcast called "Hardcore History" by Dan Carlin.  If you're into an enthusiastic subject matter expert, this is your dude.  I'm not really a History buff, but my husband got me in to these podcasts and the guy just weaves such a great story.  Fantastic!
