Soft Sleepy Newborns
« on: May 12, 2014, 03:28:03 PM »
Today I received in the mail my first SSN Sweet Dreams. I paid $30 (including shipping) for her, She looks OK but she came with loose head. I don't think I can take her apart and clean her inside, right? Then should I glue her head? Also she has yellow glue arround her neck seam (old, maybe someone tried to glue it before?) can I clean it with nail polish remover?

TIA

If you remove her head, her eyelid-tail mechanism might break... If you suspect she's filthy inside, I think you're better off maybe soaking her and then letting her air dry completely. Otherwise, leave her alone.

Nail polish remover might take the glue off. Good luck!

That glue is probably original. She's made of a harder plastic so it's a different type of glue - like they used on the playsets and that seems to yellow with time. As long as she doesn't have dirt in her neck seam she's probably not dirty inside so you might be able to glue it back on ok without cleaning her :)

This ^ Unless you think she is disgusting inside or you have done so before, I would not take her apart. The glue may come off with acetone or magic eraser but often it can be quite hard to dislodge - its worth a shot though :)
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

Thank you!

I think the mechanism in her doesn't work (I didn't have a chance to play/check  her properly yet). But I really don't want to take her appart and I don't think she is dirty inside either. I'll try to wash her outside and brush her hair tomorrow, then will try to remove old glue.

I have a SSN that I had to take apart (okay DH did it) but I am glad I did. She was gross on the inside. The eyes and the neck joint had weird stuff and past experience told me to check the inside. It is not easy to get them apart. Both DH and I worked hard on her head. I still have to clean the inside. She has been headless for about a year!
 >_<^.^
