Newbie questions
« on: May 13, 2014, 03:13:57 AM »
Hi :)

A few lil questions..

Where could i get a G4Zilla, never seen those before!!? Which characters are available?

I want to make a G4 version of Surprise (based on a Fluttershy body), but would you advise to paint her white before or after rehairing? (i plan on using the tool to rehair)

Also i have a few customs in my collection, but some of them have turned terribly sticky with time..is there any way of "saving them"?
(I dunno what was used as varnish, as i bought them, didn't made them myself)

Thanks for your time!

Hi!

I haven't done many customs myself either but hope I can help you even a little  :)

I paint my customs before rehairing because I'm sure I would mess the hair with paint if I did the other way around  But I don't know if it is the right or best way. I use wire and I haven't damaged the paint with it at all but I don't know what could happen with rerooting tool.

My first customs are sticky too because of the paint I used in them  >_< I only had artist acrylic colours and they wasn't suitable for painting plastic...
Anyway, maybe you could try and cover your sticky ponies with some clear lacquer? That's the best advice I can give but someone may know better  :)

I'm looking forward to see your custom ready!

I prefer painting before but it really is a matter of preference. I know others who prefer to paint after.

Pick up some Testors Dullcote and give them a good spray and that should help with the stickiness.

You can get the giant ponies at various stores-  and also at the Hasbrotoyshop.com

Rarity, Pinkie and Fluttershy are currently available-  Rainbow Dash, AJ and Twilight are not out yet but are on the way.   They cost $9.99
