Cutting a ponies hair...
« on: May 07, 2014, 07:25:47 AM »
Hello all :)

I have a few ponies with terrible haircuts/chewed plastic. Would it be terrible of me to cut their hair in order to customise them?

I've never done anything like that and I feel terrible about it. The one I have in front of me is Lickety Split

Are you going to completely rehair or just style? Either way, it's a great route to take to make your bait pony look wonderful! I feel bad doing it too, especially when I have to take their heads off, but the end result makes it worthwhile.

I'll like to try my hand at rehairing and maybe a full new paint job

I think it might depend on which ponies they are. I mean, you can do what you want either way, but you might find it less of a good idea if they're valuable the way they are.

Well, that's pretty much the only way to go about it if you're planning to customize. :) Sounds like they're in poor condition so you can only make them prettier! Please show us the results, I'd love to see what you come up with. ^^

Then again, if the hair is in good enough shape so that the idea of cutting it makes you cringe, maybe the ponies aren't baity enough to customize...? Either way, I'm sure you will make the right decision for you and your ponies!

They are pretty baity. The hair is course and short. Lickety has a mohawk XD

As far as I am aware none of them are rare, or even uncommon. I already customised an old Tiddly winks. Her hair was white and cutie marks were completely gone. She is drying at the moment but is a lovely little baby Snowflake ^^

Lickety Split is fine for custom baiting. :) Now if she was a blue Lickety, then maybe she should keep her mohawk. :p

But if you really want to customize her, go right ahead! It's best to cut the remaining hair as short as possible, pop her head off, and pull the remaining plugs out with needlenose pliers.

I know I always feel so heartless when I have to do that. D:

@DemureGirl Then go ahead and give her a new stylin' hairdo! :frolic:

They are your ponies :) So you should of course do as you wish with them. Others have already cautioned just be careful they are in baity condition and not uncommon first - mainly to prevent you wasting money or regretting anything after you cant take back any changes.
