Explain eBay shipping prices please!

Y'all it's been a while since I was on eBay buying and selling ponies, but what is up with 10 + dollar shipping in the US? Is it really that expensive now?

No it's not that bad but ebay is. They charge you a final value fee on the shipping you charge your customers, so sellers jack the shipping to cover the ridiculous fees. It costs about $3 for 2 adult ponies in a bubble mailer or $6ish for priority under a pound. Plus tack on paypal fees, and sellers have no choice:/ This is why I love to sell at the fair! But ebays reasoning for it is to encourage sellers to offer free shipping since it looks better to the buyer. However, then you up the price of the item:/

It certainly doesnt help that ebay now charge fees on the shipping as well *sigh*  its a real pain for sellers who charge the exact shipping cost..and a real pain to buyers as well of course 
(Shipping costs have gone up as well, and it varies a lot depending on the service/country)
One way round that is to buy/sell here on the Arena

Thank you so much. I haven sold old eBay in forever. The fees sound crazy. Gals to know shipping is actually decent still.
