Bloggers! I call out to you!
« on: March 17, 2014, 10:05:20 PM »
Hi everyone! So, eons ago I really wanted to start my own fashion blog, mostly for fun, to challenge my writing skills and to maybe connect with others who shared my interests. Unfortunately, it ultimately didn't work out and about a year ago I ended up deleting the entire thing because none of it was working.

I admit, my main issue is that I like for things to be very organized, and I was troubled that I didn't have a definitive idea about what I wanted to blog about. Mostly, I wanted it to be a blog about my girlier, prettier hobbies like Lolita, BJDS and My Little Pony. And I thought that seemed okay. But as it wore on, I became very frustrated that it all seemed too messy, even as I categorized like a crazy person. I know for some people their blog is like their journal and they can write about whatever is going on in their life, but for me, I guess my brain just doesn't work that way.

Anyway, recently I've REALLY been wanting to start it up again! Only this time I want to choose ONE topic and keep it at that,  and I'm 99% certain I would like to blog about Lolita. Only problem is...I'm scared! What if I run out of things to talk about? What if I want to start drawing on other elements of my life again like ponies and I start getting annoyed at how messy it all gets? How do I tie in other elements of my life into my main focus without feeling overwhelmed? So, my fellow bloggers, please share your experiences! Mostly I am thinking in terms of blogs such as those hosted on blogger or wordpress, not Tumblr which is more of a reblogging site, but either way, fellow blogger friends, please share your pearls of wisdom  ^.^

I have no blog, but I'd say if you want to try one focused on lolita then do it, don't worry about "if I run out of stuff"" sometime in the future. It's for fun right? So have fun. If you run out of stuff later, you run out of stuff. You can always delete it and start a different blog then, or you can even keep it and start another blog about something else and return to the other when you get inspired again.

Totally agree with Kat :) Just go for it. Don't worry about a problem until it happens...and  hopefully it will never ever raise its head anyway.

I understand the desire to continually update blogs but I will also admit that I have stopped following some when the content simply gets too much - a couple of posts a week I can keep up with but some of the ones which end up with 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 updates per day...I get bored with as I cant follow them or enjoy them as much any more. So dont feel pressured to post too much...just enough to keep your followers interested.

The other thing you can do is plan ahead. Sure you will have some reactionary posts which you come up with on the spur of the moment. But initially set yourself a schedule; list 10 or 12 topics/subject/items that you want to address in your first calender month. Once you are half way through that month or 3 weeks into it, come up with next months plan and so on. Then you will not feel pressured to post anything and you will hopefully also stay on a schedule for what is relevant :)
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

You can't know what you can or can't do until you start. :) Blogging is scary. Anything worth doing is always scary!

If you want to have ponies or art in your blog, why not have a "Hobby Friday" or something, where you CAN talk about your art (which is beautiful) and your ponies or whatever you like, and it's a unique feature that no one else has!

I can link you to some nice blog post planners if you like.
