black stains on "Pink & Fabulous Pinkie Pie" ?
« on: March 01, 2014, 05:32:02 AM »
Hi there :)

today I got Pink & Fabulous Pinkie Pie (Fashion Style with black/pink dress) at TRU in Porta Westfalica. She was marked 10€ (a REAL great deal for a Fashion Style pony in Germany), so I got her. Well the cashier then asked 12€ from me, saying, 10€ was a mistake but still,... 12€ was good for her.
When I got home I opened mine. Shes sooo pretty. I love her stuff, love her symbol, love everything about her but... when I got her clothes off I saw black stains all over her rump and belly. Its from the clothes she is wearing. Im really disappointed now. Well, I planned to leave her clothes on anyway, so I wont see it, but still... it makes me angry. Kids are going to undress her and will see the stains. Stains on a brand new toys.
So, anybody else got her with having stains? Is it common for her to have it (asking because of the dark clothes)? Or shall I go and complain?

I'd say that yes, it's going to be common because of the clothes she wears in the box.  :(

Ack, it's the Halloween G3s all over again. :( They came with black clothing and exactly the same thing happened.

Black fabric clothing on ponies is bad news because the black dye leaches into the plastic. :yikes:

I would suggest writing to Hasbro themselves and explaining the issue. You could take Pinkie Pie back to exchange her but there's no guarantee you'll get a "clean" one next time.

How frustrating! Unfortunately with a relatively cheap [and unfortunately despite European prices they are cheap] product, some irritating issues like this and poor finish is likely. However, I would also say that problems such as this are not MLP only and you will find them on a lot of different toy lines [and general item lines]. Factory production issues and finishing problems are standard on mass produced items.

The marks should come off easily enough with magic eraser but I would also treat the clothes to make them colour fast [a soak in vinegar will take care of that].

I am so sorry you were disappointed on opening her up but at least you got her at a good price and she should be fixable! *fingers crossed*

When I read this, I immediately went and checked my SDCC Muffin, she borrowed Pinkie Pie's outfit... thankfully no black marks. Does the European version not have a pink lining like the US release ones do? None of the black is actually touching my ponies because of the pink lining.

thank you all for the answers :) I might try the vinegar thing though Im a little afraid that the black color will bleed to the pink fabric when I do :/ Hm...
I tried magic eraser but it didnt work sadly :/ But thanks for the tip :)

Yes, it has that pink lining and the black didnt even touch the pony when I undressed / dressed her so I have no idea how it happened.

Yes, in all, keeping the pretty high prices for ponies in Germany in mind, I got her for a really great price and therefor I should be happy with her (I actually am today, who couldnt be happy looking at this cute face lol... but yesterday I was really disappointed.)
I wrote a message to Hasbro too, maybe they will/can work at the issue if they get enough complaints ... ;)

Its perfectly understandable to be disappointed  If the clothing was not touching her are you sure thats what the marks are from? Maybe the clothes will be fine to put back on without causing further issues if it was perhaps factory damage rather than the clothes.
