How to remove yellowing on a pale aqua pony
« on: February 14, 2014, 07:50:29 AM »
Hello
I have de flocked a ss angel that was full of rust. She has turned out great apart from some slight yellowing from her dirty flocking. The staining is not on the inside as I've cleaned all the rust out and her insides are a brighter aqua green. It's mainly on her ds hind leg.
What method is best to remove the yellowing and can it be sunfaded out?
Thank you :)

I've never tried sunfading before so I don't know if that would be better. I do a light chemical, non-bleach soap soak for most of my problem ponies.

I don't know if you'd want to try that if it still has the washer (even cleaned) inside it. I use ~2 tablespoons Bar Keeper's Friend, ~1 tablespoon dish soap (I use Palmolive free&clear), put in a zip baggie and put about a cup of warm water in it. Tease the water (shake it) so it's all mixed up then put the pony in and add more warm water to cover. Put in a warm place and turn over every so often. The longer you leave it in the solution the better. I've left really bad ones in for a week. It may remove blush after a day or so but paint and hair suffers no ill effects, but I would put hair up in a way that kept it out of the way and less likely to get tangled.

Making a note for myself to try this on my Quarterback. He's is terribly yellowed and nothing I've tried has worked so far.

I've been able to sunfade some types of yellowing on colored ponies, so it may be possible.

The yellowing is probably staining from the glue. Have you tried magic eraser on the area? I have also seen some great success with sun fading on yellowing as well so that is certainly worth a try.

Thanks guys :)
I'll try sun fading her first as the poor girls already had a chemical bath :(
I will have a look for a magic eraser too...though where would I find them in the uk?

Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Wilkinsons, Homebase, B&Q and any of the £1/99p stores :)

Flash has just released their own selection of magic eraser products they are in all the big retailers and a lot of the discount shops stock "magic sponges".
