How do YOU make wings?

I've been wanting to make some wings for various ponies but don't know where to start...especially seeing how amazing some of yours are!  How do you make your wings?

There are tons of ways to make wings.  Sculpting, printed transparencies, wire and fantasy film are some. I just made a pair (that I can't show) that used a very different method.

That's such a good point!  I hadn't even thought of making wings any other way than clay!  It makes me think that a thread like this could be even more interesting than I thought!

I've done clay wings with a mesh over wire armature and I've done transparency wings. I sort of tried fantasy film wings once but they didn't go too well.

You can also make wings from tulle over wire, they can be painted with fabric paints.

I am just learning how to make wings as well, but instead of using apoxie sculpt, I am using sculpey.  It's a bit heavy, but I like it, and I'm used to it from some other customs I'd done before.  I can't show the wings just yet, as they are for a swap (which is why Hannaliten will not show you hers - just in case you were wondering, as she is in the same swap).   Take a look on deviantart for ponies with wings...you can find oodles of pictures for inspiration! 

There aren't many tutorials out there for sculpting, but there are some for fantasy film.  =]

That is a wonderful example, and a great tutorial for them!  I love how she uses nail polish for them.  Its much cheaper than the fantasy film, and is a green way to reuse old supplies.  I want to try them eventually.  I will modify my post in just a bit to show you some of the custom ponies I have that have wings.  I didn't make them, but they might help you with ideas!

I am rubbish with clay but I did make some wings out of parchment paper once..they turned out amazing...
