Help me save my Twisty Tails
« on: February 08, 2014, 02:05:47 PM »
I lucked upon one a while back with NO discoloration and perfect silky hair! She looked right out of the box, and had her brush and comb with her! I was thrilled, as she was a pony from childhood I had needed replacing!

But now, she's slowly getting sticky with a brown mark on the seam of her NDS, and I'm desperate to hault damage!! Usually, I'd get a boil bath ready, but I've never had luck beheading and restoring brush and grows :( I'm even sorely tempted to sell her if it means saving her. I'm just heart broken because she was perfect!

Looking closer, I can start to see her changing, I need to stop it and I'm really upset...

Twisty tail is my favorite pony in my collection :) mine developed a brown spot on her neck seam as well, not sticky but it just appeared. No other spots have appeared. I havent done anything about it, but I have a hunch it has something to do with her mechanism

If she is getting sticky it may be the plastic breaking down, some talcum power may help with that.

She is so beautiful! What an intense colour. :)

Unfortunately there is nothing which can stop age marks and plastic break down. There are a couple of options which slow it down but nothing is going to stop it. Talc powder will stop the stickiness and slow down the plasticiser break down by stopping it getting out and discolouring the coating. Rubbing alcohol also helps stop it from progressing too quickly.

Aw, that's so disappointing! She's gorgeous!

Like Hathorcat said, I'm not aware of any permanent solution, but I use rubbing alcohol to remove the stickiness, although, yeah, it comes back.
