They were intentional blind bags during the late G3 era- there is a set of merpony ones that include colored ones, clear and glittery versions. As well as a set of normal ponyville sized ponies (the core 7) almost all of them are in two poses- standing and rearing except sweetie belle and starsong and there are a few clear and glitter ones as well. That's the only one I can think of as well. These were the precursors to the G4 blind bags [very little in G4 is that original ] They were pretty hard to track down at the time but they often pop up on Taobao and ebay so sometimes wonder if they just got a shorter run than planned.

*insert huge gasp here* Oh my gosh, I am not a fan of g3.5 but some of theses are very cute. (I just caught myself saying that about the g3.5 to g4 fakies too, whats going on here....)

I can totally see where g4 got some of their poses and such, looks like maybe just heads were modified on a few to make the g4 blind bags. Come on hasbro if you can do this why not do it for g4 brushables?

^ Agree (^-^)  I thought the mermaid ponyvilles were pretty cute when they came out.  I had forgotten about the blind bag releases though.  I really like the clear SweetieBelle.  She's way cute!

I have most of the mermaids. I am only missing the clear Starsong, and the glitter Rainbow Dash. They are sooo cute!

I don't like much G3,5, but I think these blind bag mermaids are adorable! I only like glittery and clear ones.
