Now, to preface: I know this is gonna seem pretty boring to y'all veteran restorers, but for my first try, I'm so happy this worked!
Last week, I got a package I was really excited about--a purple Valentine's baby, and Locket. The package was water-damaged, and smelled vaguely vinegary, but I didn't think anything of it. Until I cut the mailer open. Immediately there was this overpowering smell, something like a cross between rancid Memphis barbecue and rotten eggs. I nearly hurled at least three times while taking the packaging out to the garage. The ponies inside unfortunately didn't do any better. The seller bagged them separately and I think that helped some (I don't blame her a bit--I was just fuming at the postal service!), but they still smelled horribly.
Long story short, I chucked them in baking soda for a week and tried to forget so I wouldn't fuss with them. I just pulled them out--and all better!

The baby (does she have an actual name, btw?) is sitting by me now and smells all fresh and clean. I'm so happy!
