I had it happen a few years ago. I did win my case but it was only because this certain person had done business with me before and like Oneleo mentioned, they had left me positive feedback. Those two reasons were the only reason I had won because I had sent it First Class with no delivery confirmation. If it had remained on the fact of shipping confirmation I would have lost the case. There is no two ways about it. It just happened that lady luck was on my side.

I am quoting Paypal's Chargeback FAQ's below on ways that may help you win your case.

Quote
What information can a seller provide to increase the chances of winning a chargeback dispute?
The following types of information can increase the chances of a chargeback dispute being ruled in favor of the seller:

•Proof of delivery, such as online tracking numbers.
•Copies of the original item description or auction description, including any photos.
•Proof that the buyer was already refunded.
•Proof that the buyer was provided with a replacement product.
•Correspondence with the buyer or feedback from the buyer.
•Any agreements signed or accepted by the buyer at time of purchase.
•Any return policy that was communicated to the buyer

Thanks to (almost) everyone for your helpful replies.  I'm sorry about my late reply, I've been avoiding the Arena while I get my head around things.  I'm an honest person and I like to believe the same about others, and I'm far too trusting.  Will definitely be changing the way I do business in the future.

The reason Paypal want proof of sending/delivery is that if you can prove it was sent and recieved, eBay seller protection often comes into play and eBay/PayPal will cover the amount for you even if the bank decides it was fraudulent and takes the money back off PayPal. It's one of the benefits of selling on eBay.

Thank you, I can prove that it was sent, but not that it was received.  Do you know if seller protection covers people outside the US?  I think I read somewhere that you need to live in the US to be eligible.

Who is shouting? I didn't realize my caps lock was on. I would be more concerned with the case rather than nit picking on someone who is trying to help.

It is universally accepted that typing with your caps lock on is shouting, and is considered rude, which is why your post was edited.  I politely asked you not to shout.  I am not sure how that is nit-picking, but I am not interested in entering into a discussion about it with you.  If you have nothing helpful to add, please remove yourself from my thread.

Thank you, I appreciate that.

Ponylady & OL - thanks for the information.  No I have not received feedback from the buyer for this or any other transaction.  I've replied to the paypal case with evidence of shipping, and I've reported the buyer to ebay so they can monitor any patterns in her trading behaviour.  I think that's all I can do for now.  I'll update you if the outcome is positive, you probably won't hear from me if it's not.

Wow, a bit hostile, are we? My statement still stands. If you cannot prove that the item is delivered, you will have no choice but to refund. I'm sorry you don't consider this 'helpful'.

The situation is bad enough already, and your posts and attitude are not helping.  I would really appreciate it if you would leave this thread alone.  Thank you.

I am locking this up, as you both clearly ignored an Administrator's warning.
